THE ROLE: 

This Finance Manager role is a high-visibility position within AMD's Finance organization. This role is essential to the success of the business and reports directly to the Sr. Director.  This role will lead our financial reporting and audit coordination functions. This role serves as the primary liaison with external audit firms, ensuring alignment on key controls, timely deliverables, and audit readiness. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role as the process management owner (PMO), overseeing and coordinating key financial processes including the quarterly close and annual audit procedures.

 

THE PERSON: 

The ideal candidate is detail oriented and has a bias for action, a high sense of collaboration, and the ability make recommendations in a fast-paced environment. Additionally, we are looking for a teammate with leadership experience that will take ownership of the role, drive improvements in execution, and implement standardized work.  

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITES: 

  • Serve as the primary liaison with external audit firms, managing all communications, deliverables, and expectations throughout the audit lifecycle.
  • Coordinate and execute the quarterly close audit process, ensuring timely submission of key schedules, reconciliations, and documentation.
  • Take ownership of the annual external audit procedures, leading internal teams to ensure preparedness, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Act as the mega process owner (MPO) for finance and accounting workflows, driving standardization, documentation, and continuous improvement of internal processes.
  • Ensure financial reporting processes align with internal control requirements and external compliance standards.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal departments to gather and verify audit-related information.
  • Proactively identify and address control gaps or process inefficiencies; recommend improvements to strengthen internal controls.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and financial compliance frameworks relevant to the company's industry.
  • Review key financial terms of Manufacturing Service Agreements on an ad-hoc basis
  • Represent Global Operations Finance as workstream lead for system-related projects and initiatives, including responsibility for testing deliverables and project management
  • Serve as departmental point of contact for system-related issues and access

PREFFERED EXPERIENCE: 

  • Demonstrated experience in leading or managing audits (public accounting or private industry).
  • Self-starter with excellent organizational, communication, problem solving and project management skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Hardworking, proactive, and dynamic individual with the ability to work in teams and with all levels of an organization as well as work independently 
  • Solid Experience in accounting, with a strong emphasis on audit coordination and financial close processes.
  • Validated experience – preferably in a global fast-paced driven multi-site high-tech environment 

ACADEMIC CREDITIALS: 

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or equivalent preferred).
