THE ROLE:  

We are looking for a dynamic, energetic Lead / Principal Systems Design Engineer to join our growing team. As a key contributor to the success of AMD's product, you will be part of a leading team to drive and improve AMD's abilities to deliver the highest quality, industry-leading technologies to market.  The Datacenter Graphics and Accelerated Computing (DCGPU) organization is excited to hire an experienced individual to provide leadership and guidance as well manage a highly skilled team of debug engineers. The person should have previous system / datacenter level debug experience and understand fully debug methodologies across a varying set of datacenter platforms as well managing and leading individuals that are responsible for triaging and root causing complex issues.  Communication is a major part of the role: gathering key stakeholders together to get to a common resolution, working directly with partners/customers on issues that many times are worked in external environments, and presenting updates daily in an executive level forum

 

THE PERSON:  

Experienced, self-motivated individual that is able to manage of set of highly skilled debug engineers as well has be able to provide leadership in debug processes, flows and methodologies.  Debug/Root causing issues acumen will be a key part of the role and providing updates to complex issues.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Driving technical innovation to improve AMD's capabilities across validation, including tool and script development, technical and procedural methodology enhancement, and various internal and cross-functional technical initiatives
  • Manage a high performance team of debug engineers that work directly on customer/partner systems as well as internal reference platforms
  • Arbitrate with stakeholders and hold session on root causing issues/concerns
  • Clear / Concise communication in open daily meetings on ‘high attention” issues
  • Knowledge in requirements for root causing issues and debug methodologies
  • Provide leadership input/recommendations for improvements / help driver organizational initiatives
  • Ability to step in and do root causing/debug when required
  • Issue tracking
  • Working closely with supporting technical teams  
  • Leading collaborative approach with multiple teams 

Key Qualifications:  

  • Minimum 8 years experience in managing systems/platform debug and/or validation
  • Drive Customer/Partner/Stakeholder interactions on problems, engage in Co-Engineering
  • Communication skills are a key component due to person's responsibility of providing input at executive level as well being able to hold “live debug” sessions
  • Debug methodologies, flow, templates

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • 8 to 10 years Management experience in platform-system support/validation/debug
  • Worked in an environment where individual drove stakeholder meetings on resolution of issues
  • Partners/Customer background in driving concerns/co-engineering
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders on root causing issues, driving issue meetings
  • Hands-on experience in platform / system level debug
  • Leadership and Communication skills as individual will be in presenting in executive forums
  • Ability to clearly articulate the work by the team (ins/outs and the needs/concerns

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:  

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in electrical or computer engineering, 8-10 years relevant experience
