THE ROLE:

The Finance Senior Manager will report to the Senior Director of Finance, AI Group and support the Datacenter Infrastructure Platform Business Unit as (BU) Controller. This position serves as the key business partner to the BU General Manager and leadership team, providing financial leadership, insight, and strategic support to drive performance and achieve business objectives. This is a prominent position within AMD's Datacenter Finance organization and is critical to the success of the Datacenter Business.

 


THE PERSON:

We are seeking a strategic, results-oriented leader with a strong bias for action and a proven ability to excel in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. The ideal candidate demonstrates exceptional communication skills and a collaborative mindset, effectively managing multiple priorities. This individual is expected to provide strong leadership, confidently make recommendations, and build robust partnerships across the BU, Finance and other organizations within the Company.

 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Serve as the primary finance partner to the Business Unit General Manager, delivering data-driven insights, financial guidance, and decision support.
  • Partner with Datacenter Infrastructure leadership to shape business strategy, prioritize opportunities, and translate insights into financial plans that optimize resources.
  • Collaborate with engineering, infrastructure, program management, procurement and operations to align financial plans with platform roadmaps and execution priorities.
  • Support infrastructure investment planning, including capacity, cost optimization, and ROI analysis for datacenter platforms
  • Drive budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis; communicate financial performance and risks to senior leadership and corporate finance
  • Monitor operating expenses and capital related investments to ensure efficient resource allocation and alignment with strategic priorities
  • Develop long-range financial planning and scenario analysis to guide strategic decisions.
  • Improve financial transparency by establishing clear metrics, reporting frameworks, and performance tracking for platform initiatives
  • Ensure strong internal controls and adherence to company financial policies and accounting standards.
  • Partner with Corporate Finance, Accounting, and other BU Finance teams to ensure alignment and consistency in reporting.

 

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

 

  • Progressive experience in Finance, including significant exposure to BU, platform, or P&L Management roles
  • Experience supporting infrastructure, platform, or engineering-heavy organizations (datacenter, cloud, AI/ML, or hardware environments preferred)
  • Strong financial modeling, forecasting, and analytical skills; proficiency with Excel expertise.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate concepts clearly and concisely to diverse audiences.
  • Self-motivated, intellectually curious, and comfortable with ambiguity, possessing a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and leading teams.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-growth, and challenging environment.
  • Thorough understanding of accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Semiconductor or high-tech industry experience is strongly preferred

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
  • MBA, CPA, or CFA preferred
