THE ROLE:

We are looking for an MTS (Member of Technical Staff) Engineer with an obsession for firmware. As part of the role, this engineer will work closely with other firmware engineers, electrical test and debug engineers in feature enablement, & debugs electrical issues in the DRAM Sub-System of new processors.

 

THE PERSON:

The person needs to be well self-motivated for deliveries and effective problem-solving skills, have a strong technical background on DRAM technology from a firmware perspective, and have good communication skills.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participate in day-to-day firmware development or validation work
  • Closely interacts with system design engineer (DRAM controller and Phy) in test execution & debug
  • Must have strong system debugging skills in various BIOS domains
  • Provide consultation to internal and external customers regarding AMD DRAM Sub-System programming requirements in BIOS domains
  • Assist in debugging compatibility issues of 3rd-party DRAM chips
  • Provides detailed input into the platform definition & review of platform designs used in the silicon validation of new processors. 

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Requires experience and demonstrated technical expertise in the development of system firmware. DDR5(4)/LPDDR5(4) memory reference code development experience would be considered a big plus. 
  • Familiar with DDR technology, reading schematics and layout documentation
  • Requires good written and oral communication skills.  
  • Proficient in C language.
  • Strong understanding of x86, x64 architecture.

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Self-organizing and the ability multitask based on priorities
  • In-depth knowledge of the DDR protocol stack and familiarity with DRAM training.
  • Previous experience in any other high speed IO interface firmware development also helpful
  • Basic knowledge of scripting languages like Python is a plus.

 

  ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree (preferred) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
