THE ROLE:

 

We are building first class technologies for C++, HIP, Fortran, OpenMP, and OpenCL executing on AMD GPU. The successful candidate will manage a team of highly-motivated engineers working to improve compiler technologies . The team is part of a larger compiler organization whose overall focus is generation of optimal code for compute workloads - e.g., AI/ML as well as HPC - for AMD GPUs.

 

 

THE PERSON:

 

You will lead a team developing and optimizing AMD's GPU compiler across multiple architectures. The role requires proven experience managing software engineering teams in fast-paced environments, strong expertise in compiler technologies—preferably LLVM—and the ability to communicate effectively and collaborate across teams. Ideal candidates are passionate about software engineering and skilled at resolving complex technical challenges while driving team success.

 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage an engineering team including mentoring, goal setting and conducting annual performance reviews
  • Work closely with your team to develop enhancements to the compiler software performance, tracking and fixing bugs, and testing drivers to be aligned with key deliverables
  • Provide technical guidance to engineers
  • Understand and present technical status updates to upper managers, peers, and engineer teams
  • Have technical insight to guide priorities and translate the asks into right actions

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • 10+  years' experience as a software developer, including experience as a manager in compilers or CPU/GPU development
  • Experience with open-source development. E.g., LLVM
  • Undergraduate degree in a technical discipline and ideally MS or PhD.
  • Strong organization and communication skills
  • Demonstrated track record of project delivery in a large cross-functional organization
  • Knowledge of software engineering practices in the area of compilers for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
