AMD together we advance_
Manager, System Power & Performance (Post-Silicon) About the Role We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Manager to lead the System Power & Performance (PnP) team for AMD's next-generation x86 SoCs. This team plays a critical role in post-silicon validation, characterization, profiling, and optimization to deliver industry-leading performance across diverse markets, including automotive IVI, networking, storage, and industrial segments. As the System PnP Manager, you will lead a team of engineers responsible for ensuring that AMD SoCs achieve their peak performance, efficiency, and competitiveness. You will drive end-to-end PnP activities — from silicon bring-up and performance characterization, to profiling, optimization, competitive benchmarking, and delivering customer-facing performance collateral. This role requires strong technical expertise in SoC performance, combined with team leadership and cross-functional collaboration to work with architects, design, firmware, software, and customer engineering teams. Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Team Management
- Lead and grow a team of engineers focused on post-silicon power & performance validation.
- Define team goals, priorities, and execution plans in alignment with SoC program milestones.
- Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and performance feedback to team members.
- Post-Silicon PnP Execution
- Own performance characterization of key IPs (CPU, GPU, NPU, Memory, Storage, Interconnect).
- Drive system-level profiling, optimization, and debugging to extract the best performance from silicon.
- Identify, root-cause, and resolve performance bottlenecks across the SoC and system stack.
- Validate and optimize DVFS, power states, and performance tuning knobs.
- Benchmarking & Competitive Analysis
- Run industry-standard workloads and benchmarks (SPEC, MLPerf, multimedia, networking, storage).
- Perform competitive benchmarking against peer SoCs to highlight AMD advantages and gaps.
- Deliver comprehensive performance reports to product, architecture, and leadership teams.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with architecture teams to correlate pre-silicon models with silicon results.
- Collaborate with firmware/software teams to optimize OS, drivers, and workloads for maximum efficiency.
- Work with customer engineering to ensure that AMD delivers best-in-class PnP results for customer use-cases.
- Documentation & Reporting
- Define standard methodologies for performance measurement and reporting.
- Create and maintain performance documentation, dashboards, and collateral for internal and external stakeholders.
- Present key findings, insights, and recommendations to senior leadership.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in SoC/system-level performance engineering, with at least 3+ years in a leadership or management role.
- Strong expertise in post-silicon power/performance validation for complex SoCs.
- Deep understanding of x86 SoC architecture and subsystems (CPU, GPU, NPU, memory, interconnect, storage).
- Hands-on experience with benchmarking, profiling tools, and workload analysis.
- Proven ability to lead teams, set strategy, and execute under tight program schedules.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Experience with automotive IVI, networking, storage, or industrial use-cases.
- Strong background in competitive benchmarking and performance vs. power tradeoff analysis.
- Familiarity with pre-silicon modeling and post-silicon correlation.
- Ability to influence senior stakeholders with data-driven insights and recommendations.
- Opportunity to lead AMD's system-level power & performance validation for cutting-edge x86 SoCs.
- High-impact role with visibility across product, architecture, and customer leadership.
- Collaborative and innovative work culture, with opportunities to grow into senior technical or organizational leadership roles.
- Be part of a team shaping AMD's competitiveness in automotive, networking, storage, and industrial markets.
