THE ROLE:
As a Telco SW Solution Performance & Benchmark Engineer, you will play a crucial role in enabling AMD's success in the telecommunications market. You will engage with partner architects and engineers to facilitate the bring-up of AMD platforms and collaborate on joint performance optimization. This role involves driving closure of technical issues, developing system-level solutions, creating technical collateral, and executing performance benchmarking on various networking software workloads. You will also be involved in optimizing data plane libraries and networking device drivers on AMD platforms.
THE PERSON:
Responsible for working with partners to optimize AMD platforms, develop solutions, and demonstrate AMD's value proposition in the Telco space. This requires a blend of deep technical expertise in areas like network driver development and data plane implementation, collaboration skills, and the ability to communicate complex information effectively. As a key contributor, you are expected to drive initiatives, work with cross-functional teams, and deliver results that position AMD for success.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Engage with partner architects and engineers to enable bring-up of AMD platforms and work together on joint performance optimization.
Drive closure of open technical issues leveraging partner and AMD engineering resources.
Develop system-level (hardware and software) solutions and technical value proposition on joint partner-enabled solutions to enable AMD's success in Telco markets.
Publish technical collateral (presentations, tuning guides, whitepapers, etc.) to position AMD products in target market segments
Create detailed requirements and co-develop joint partner demos and proof of concepts. Work with partners to create SOW for implementation as needed.
Plan, execute Telco & High IO performance benchmarking on various networking SW workloads on AMD platforms in different deployment environments (virtualized and containerized).
- Design and coding in C/C++ language on Linux Environment, with a focus on performance.
Experience with data plane implementation using DPDK fastpath or FD.io(VPP) for performance analysis and optimization.
Contribute to performance analysis of software applications, including developing applications for external customers.
- Train, socialize, and evangelize AMD's technical value proposition as needed.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 7 years of deep technical experience in the server industry and hands on experience with multi core processors a must. Minimum BSEE degree
- Programming/scripting experienced(e.g., C/C++, Bash Shell Scripting, Go, Python).
- Strong understanding of server technology, trends, system solutions and software, Deep understanding of network protocols, Data Plane open source projects like DPDK, OVS-DPDK, and related technologies.
- Knowledge of x86 Microarchitecture, Network I/O Performance profiling and benchmarking, technical debug/troubleshooting, and validation strategies.
- Detailed oriented; ability to multitask through planning/organizing.
- Excellent Communication and Presentation skills.
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
- Bachelors or master's degree in electrical or computer engineering.
- Advanced degree preferred.
