THE ROLE: 

We are seeking an experienced Customer Quality Engineer (CQE) to lead customer quality engagements for strategic Data Center, Networking and AI Infrastructure, customers. This role will support AMD's expanding portfolio of Data Center solutions, including EPYC CPU, Instinct GPU, DPUs, SmartNICs, AI-NICs, high-speed Ethernet adapters, and related networking technologies serving hyperscale, cloud, enterprise, and AI infrastructure customers. The CQE serves as the primary quality interface between AMD and key customers, driving customer satisfaction, field quality improvement, issue resolution, and quality leadership throughout the product lifecycle. The successful candidate will work closely with customers, sales, field application engineering, product line quality, operations, design, reliability, and manufacturing teams to drive rapid issue resolution and continuous quality improvement.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Customer interface
    • Act as the main point of contact for customer quality issues, escalations, audits, and scorecards.
    • Manage customer communications for nonconformances, containment, interim actions, and permanent corrective actions.
    • Support customer visits, line audit; close findings in time
    • Host Quarterly Quality review meeting with customers
  • Issue management and problem solving
    • Own the end-to-end complaint process: intake, triage, containment, root cause analysis, and verification of effectiveness.
    • Lead structured problem-solving (8D), using 5-Why, Ishikawa, Pareto, and DOE when appropriate.
    • Coordinate cross-functional teams (manufacturing, engineering, suppliers, logistics) to prevent recurrence.
  • Data analysis and reporting
    • Monitor key metrics (DPPM, AFR, LRR, MFR) and drive improvement plans.
    • Analyze trends from incoming, in-process, and field data; identify systemic issues and champion corrective projects.
    • Maintain accurate records in the QMS and generate reports for internal reviews and customer scorecards.
    • Align accurate quality indices with customers
  • Production and supplier collaboration
    • Partner with SQE and MQE for quality excursions improvement
    • Support supplier quality on incoming defects related to customer issues; participate in supplier 8Ds as needed.
    • Validate effectiveness of containments (sorts, rework, re-inspection) and coordinate disposition of suspect material.
  • Continuous improvement
    • Lead or support kaizen events focused on defect reduction, early defect discovery, and improve customer satisfaction.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline.  Advanced degree preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in Customer Quality / Supplier Quality / Reliability Engineering
  • Proven experience managing customer-facing quality issues in manufacturing or semiconductor environment
  • Strong expertise in quality methodologies: 8D, FMEA, CAPA, Six Sigma
  • Experience with server platforms, x86 processors, AI accelerators, networking products, Ethernet adapters, SmartNICs, DPUs, AI-NICs, or high-performance data center infrastructure is highly desirable.

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCES:

  • Experience supporting hyperscale/cloud customers or ODM/OEM ecosystem
  • Knowledge of semiconductor, server, or system-level products
  • ASQ CQE certification or Six Sigma Green/Black Belt
  • Experience leading global cross-functional teams
  • Familiarity with:  
    • Reliability testing (HTOL, stress testing, system validation)
    • Manufacturing and FA processes
