THE ROLE:

As the Product Engineering Manager for the Enterprise Central Team – PNG, you will lead and scale the new Product Engineering function in Penang and drive product engineering execution for Enterprise products across cost, quality, reliability, and yield commitments.

In AMD product teams, Product Engineering spans multiple deliverables required to optimize products for production launch (e.g., product definition, characterization, yield/distribution attainment, and product issue debug). The PEM is accountable for product engineering work and ensures the workload is effectively distributed across the product engineering team.

This role requires strong technical judgment, disciplined execution, and the ability to align stakeholders across Product Test, Design, Quality, Reliability, Platform, and other functions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establish and grow the Enterprise Central Team – PNG Product Engineering capability (hiring, onboarding, coaching, performance management) to support ramping product execution needs.
  • Reduce single‑person dependencies by building bench strength and developing subject matter owners as the Penang organization scales.
  • Manage the Product Engineering team and deliver against commitments on cost, quality, reliability, and yield.
  • Ensure product engineering deliverables needed for production launch are executed (e.g., product definition, characterization, yield and distribution attainment, and product‑level issue debug).
  • Provide product technical leadership and drive alignment across functional teams to achieve product technical requirements.
  • Drive execution alignment across the broader product “swim lanes” (e.g., Product Engineering, Test Solution, Quality) so that handoffs and interdependencies are actively managed.
  • Take ownership of PEO inputs to design based on characterization results and work with design teams to close issues.
  • Drive engineering learning loops (characterization → issue closure → product definition updates) as part of product readiness.
  • Lead product Test, Cost, and Quality gate deliverables and conduct reviews aligned to development milestones.
  • Ensure Penang PE execution is integrated into the broader Enterprise cadence and readiness reviews as the site ramps.
  • Support product readiness work that spans manufacturing and production planning interfaces (e.g., HVM enablement dependencies and cross‑org coordination), in collaboration with the broader PEO ecosystem.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Proven people manager, with experience building and leading teams (typically 5+ engineers)
  • Experience leading NPI teams and understanding the broader ecosystem of product development; strong stakeholder management and communication across organizations and levels.
  • Strong technical/engineering background aligned to product engineering domains that support production launch (e.g., characterization, yield learning, product definition, issue debug).
  • Familiarity with fab processes, package/test interactions, and production screening strategies
  • Track record of technical decision‑making at the product level
  • Analytical, data‑driven approach; able to understand complex data and draw conclusions to drive next actions (tools such as JMP or Jupyter).

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • BS/MS Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or comparable disciplines
