THE ROLE:
We are searching for an experienced Hardware Design Engineer to work on the next generation of FPGA-based prototyping systems. This exciting role covers a wide range of engineering tasks allowing ownership from board architecture and specification to component selection, schematic capture and layout to validation, manufacturing, and deployment.
THE PERSON:
You have a passion for modern, complex processor architecture, digital design, and verification in general. You are a team player who has excellent communication skills and experience collaborating with other engineers located in different sites/ time zones. You have strong analytical and problem-solving skills and are willing to learn and do not shy away from challenges. In this leadership role you will be self-directed and have an opportunity to pass on your expertise to others.
You will work with teams across AMD's whole product portfolio to develop and enable hardware, methodology, and tools for their emulation and prototyping needs. You will have many opportunities to learn, grow and excel in this role.
KEY RESPONSIBLITIES:
Develop and deploy multi-billion gate FPGA-based prototyping systems
Hardware architecture definition, design and development
Specifications for electrical, power delivery, thermal, and mechanical requirements
Schematic capture, component selection and layout feasibility studies
Manage PCB layout with in-house design teams and external contractors
Hardware bring-up, validation planning and execution
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support software, firmware and tools
KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
Strong EE fundamentals
Schematic and layout tools (OrCAD, Allegro)
Experience in creation of HW architecture specifications for complex hardware systems
Hands-on experience in hardware bring-up, functional verification, and debug
Familiarity with data protocols PCIe Gen 4/5, USB Type-C, USB, I2C, JTAG, SPI
Experience with high-speed design and signal integrity, power, thermal analysis
Innovative, critical thinking and troubleshooting skills
Proficient written, verbal, negotiation, and communication skills
- Knowledge of x86 platform architecture, Xilinx FPGAs and tools, and Open Compute Project standards and specifications
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical/Computer Engineering or Electronics/Computer Science related with a minimum 5-10 years of experience in hardware architecture and design
