MTS System PnP Engineer

THE ROLE:

We are looking for a hands‑on Performance and Benchmarking Engineer to drive CPU, GPU, and NPU performance evaluation on Linux‑based systems, with a strong focus on OS and kernel‑level behavior. In this role, you will design and execute benchmarking experiments, analyze kernel logs and profiling data, and build automation to enable repeatable, scalable performance analysis across platforms. The ideal candidate is comfortable working close to the Linux kernel, enjoys debugging system‑level issues, and takes ownership of translating low‑level data into actionable performance insights.

THE PERSON:

We are searching for a deeply skilled performance and benchmarking engineer with exceptional proficiency in Linux Kernel programming and Operating System fundamentals. In this role, you will drive end-to-end benchmarking workflows focusing on CPUs, GPUs, and NPUs across a wide range of hardware and software platforms. Your expertise in Linux internals and kernel-level optimization will be central to running experiments, automating data pipelines, processing profiling results, and communicating insights to internal stakeholders. If you thrive in environments where understanding the operating system is key, enjoy diving into kernel logs, and are passionate about automating robust workflows, we are eager to connect with you.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead the execution of comprehensive CPU, GPU, and NPU benchmarks, with a special focus on Linux-based platforms and OS-level configuration.

• Conduct performance experiments and characterize system behavior, leveraging deep knowledge of Linux Kernel and operating system mechanisms.

• Ensure reproducible and reliable test environments through advanced OS and kernel tuning, including BIOS, firmware, and scheduler optimization.

• Collect, validate, and analyze extensive performance data and logs, utilizing kernel debugging tools and OS profiling utilities.

• Produce detailed reports and documentation that explain kernel-level analysis, performance tuning activities, and actionable recommendations.

• Design, develop, and maintain sophisticated Bash, Python, and C scripts to process, filter, and summarize log files from OS and SoC profiling tools.

• Build automation tools that streamline benchmarking and analysis workflows, ensuring compatibility across various Linux distributions and embedded environments.

• Collaborate with engineering teams to interpret log structures and kernel semantics, defining parsing strategies to transform raw profiling output into meaningful insights.

• Own the initial debug and root cause analysis of system, firmware, and software issues—especially those related to OS or kernel interactions during setup and benchmarking

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

• Familiarity with CPU/GPU architecture and kernel-level performance concepts.

• Exposure to performance optimization on Android, Yocto, and Ubuntu.

• Experience with ARM/x86 architecture (x86 preferred).

• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and ticketing systems (e.g., JIRA).

• Demonstrated expertise in Linux Kernel programming and deep understanding of operating system internals.

• Strong programming skills in C, C++ specifically for kernel/driver programming.

• Extensive hands-on experience in Linux (preferably Ubuntu or embedded Linux), with a focus on kernel programming and operating system optimization.

•  Proven ability to optimize Linux systems at the kernel and OS level, including scheduler, thermal, and power frameworks.

• Experience with industry-standard benchmarking tools and profiling utilities such as perf, ftrace, turbostat, and VTune.

• Excellent documentation, communication, and knowledge sharing skills.

•  Strong execution mindset – candidates who are curious, quick learners, self-driven, and demonstrate ownership and focus.

•  Minimum 8 years of relevant industry experience.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in computer engineering/Electrical Engineering
