THE ROLE:

You will be part of the Product Engineering organization, delivering end-to-end test and manufacturing solutions to enable New Product Introduction (NPI).  You will be part of the team that leads the development of innovative test capabilities that support next-generation processors for high-performance computing, data center, and enterprise applications.

As a Test Equipment (Sort) Engineer, you will partner closely with design and cross-functional teams to ensure the timely delivery of robust, high-quality wafer sort test solutions. You will own the sort hardware solution from development through bring-up, ensuring all activities align with established validation protocols and quality standards.  

Key responsibilities include developing and validating sort hardware, driving test content bring-up, and designing hardware solutions for supported products. You will be accountable for meeting critical quality and yield performance metrics, ensuring stable and repeatable execution.

 

THE PERSON:

We seek a candidate with a deep commitment to technical expertise, who is eager to continuously learn and share knowledge within the team. The ideal applicant should possess a robust background in ATE hardware development, preferably Advantest 93K.  We value an engineer who is results-driven and demonstrates strong stakeholder management skills, essential for effective collaboration with diverse teams across AMD. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities are required for successful engagement with our global workforce.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Wafer Sort Execution
    • Lead and support Sort Strategic projects
  • Yield & Failure Ownership
    • Own WS solution yield excursions, test failures, and fallout, driving end‑to‑end technical debug.
    • Lead failure triage, root cause analysis, and corrective actions spanning equipment, test program, probe card, and process.
  • ATE & Test Readiness
    • Validate test configurations, limits, and content prior to deployment. 
  • Sort Hardware Ownership
    • Own Sort Hardware solution readiness and design ownership for WS execution.
    • Lead solution management, including tracking, risk assessment, and escalations.
  • Issue Escalation & Cross‑Functional Leadership
    • Serve as the technical escalation owner for test solution issues.
    • Communicate clear root cause, impact, and recovery plans to management and stakeholders.

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Strong background in wafer sort and OSAT operations
  • Proven ability to lead cross‑functional technical debug and issue resolution
  • Experience with yield analysis, failure triage, and test readiness
  • Competence in statistical analysis techniques.
  • Proficiency in Windows, Unix, and Linux operating systems.
  • Experience with Co-Package optics including high-Speed interfaces and thermal solution / management is a plus.
  • Strong and effective presentation, written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work with geographically distributed product engineering teams
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: 

  • Bachelor's Electronics / electrical engineering, or comparable disciplines
