Description
ADVANCE YOUR CAREER. ADVANCE THE WORLD.
At AMD, we believe technology has the power to solve the world's most important challenges. From advancing healthcare and scientific discovery to powering AI and the technologies people rely on every day, innovation at AMD is shaping the future.
Whether you're designing next-gen processors, enabling AI breakthroughs, or bringing leading edge products to market, every role at AMD contributes to something bigger — technology that moves the world forward. Join us and, together, we'll advance your career.
THE ROLE
Join AMD's Software AI Enablement team and help shape how thousands of engineers build with AI. We develop the products, platforms, and services that enable AMD engineers to write, review, test, and ship software and hardware faster and more effectively, at AMD's scale and security posture.
In this role, you'll design, build, and operate scalable software systems that power AI-driven engineering workflows across AMD. You'll work on products engineers choose to use, platform services other teams depend on, and integrations with systems we do not control — turning incomplete, inconsistent, or incorrect data into answers someone can act on. Working closely with product engineering, IT, security, finance, infrastructure, and business-unit teams, as well as the AI vendors we integrate, you'll solve complex technical challenges at the intersection of software engineering, data platforms, cloud services, and generative AI.
Our portfolio shifts as the technology and the company's needs shift. The specific systems change — that is the point. We would rather hire someone who can move across problems than someone matched to today's roadmap. If you're excited by ambiguous problems, emerging technologies, and building solutions that have company-wide impact, we'd love to hear from you.
THE PERSON
You are an experienced software engineer who thrives in unfamiliar technical environments and becomes genuinely useful in them quickly. You are not a specialist in any particular technology; you have depth in at least one language and ecosystem, and evidence that your skill transferred when the stack changed.
You combine strong engineering fundamentals with ownership, sound judgment about correctness, and a critical, hands-on practice of using AI — not enthusiasm, but the ability to describe where AI has made you better, where it has misled you, and how you decide which is happening. You care what happens after the merge: deployment, monitoring, the first support question, and the second one. Work often arrives as a question rather than a ticket, and you reduce the ambiguity yourself.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design, develop, and operate production software and platform services you own end to end — from design and shipping through production support.
- Build AI-powered products that engineers choose to use, where quality, reliability, and taste determine adoption.
- Integrate with enterprise and third-party platforms, APIs, and AI services you do not control, including those that are under-documented, rate-limited, or occasionally wrong.
- Develop reliable, secure, and observable cloud-native systems using containers, orchestration, CI/CD, and production observability.
- Build and maintain data pipelines, warehouses, and data-driven solutions, including reconciliation and correctness at scale.
- Troubleshoot complex issues across unfamiliar layers until you find the actual cause, and ship fixes you can explain.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners — including finance, program management, security, and executives — translating technical constraints and stakeholder goals in both directions.
- Evaluate and apply emerging AI technologies, including LLMs and agent-based systems, to real-world engineering challenges where the right approach is often not yet established.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
- Extensive experience building and operating production software you owned: designed, shipped, ran, and supported — not only implemented to someone else's specification.
- Strong programming expertise in one or more modern languages, with demonstrated ability to learn and work effectively across multiple technology stacks. We are language-agnostic; what we want to see is that your skill transferred when the stack changed.
- Deep understanding of software engineering fundamentals that outlast any framework: data modeling, concurrency, API and interface design, failure modes, distributed systems, and reasoning about a system you did not write.
- Experience with cloud-native technologies, containers, orchestration, CI/CD, and production observability.
- Hands-on experience building with LLMs, AI agents, or generative AI technologies, beyond casual use.
- Fluent, critical use of AI in your own engineering practice. You can describe concretely where AI has made you more effective — not merely faster — where it has misled you, and how you decide which is happening.
- Experience with data-intensive systems (pipelines, warehouses, reconciliation) and enterprise or third-party integrations.
- Strong debugging, problem-solving, and communication skills in English, in writing and in person, with colleagues and stakeholders across continents and disciplines.
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in fast-moving, ambiguous environments, including sound judgment about when "good enough and shipped today" is right and when being wrong is unacceptable.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical field preferred.
LOCATION
- Belgrade or Nis or Novi Sad (Hybrid)
