THE ROLE

As an Silicon Design Engineer supporting the AMD G&E IP organization, you will develop, integrate, and support infrastructure tools that improve operational efficiency for engineering teams, with a strong focus on design verification users. This team is central to initiatives that leverage AI to boost productivity across the organization. You will capture stakeholder requirements, translate them into actionable tool capabilities, and partner with the infrastructure team to deliver scalable solutions. The role also includes reducing technical debt, applying Lean/Agile practices to improve team productivity, and using tool data to increase visibility and support data-driven ASIC development prioritization.

THE PERSON

You are a hands-on problem-solver who improves how engineering teams work. You communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders, ask effective questions, and turn operational pain points into practical tool solutions. You understand design verification workflows well enough to build credibility with users, identify useful data signals, and prioritize improvements that affect ASIC execution. You bring technical curiosity, a service-oriented mindset, and a drive to build reliable tools that make teams more effective. Does this describe you? If so, then join us!

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop, enhance, deploy, and support infrastructure tools, automation, dashboards, and workflow solutions that improve operational efficiency across the AMD G&E IP organization.
  • Partner with engineering and design verification stakeholders to understand workflows, gather requirements, define priorities, and translate business and technical needs into actionable specifications.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure developers to integrate, validate, maintain, and scale tool solutions while reducing technical debt and improving reliability, maintainability, and supportability.
  • Support initiatives that leverage AI to automate repetitive tasks, improve engineering productivity, and enable larger productivity workflows across the organization.
  • Apply Lean/Agile practices to drive continuous improvement, use tool and verification data to increase visibility and support ASIC development prioritization, and provide user support, training, documentation, and status communication to stakeholders.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
  • Experience developing, supporting, or improving engineering tools, automation, dashboards, workflows, or productivity solutions, with the ability to gather stakeholder requirements and convert ambiguous needs into clear development plans.
  • Working knowledge of scripting, data analysis, and tool development using technologies such as Python, Perl, Ruby, JavaScript, SQL, or similar languages, including experience with full-stack web applications, APIs, backend services, dashboards, and workflow platforms.
  • Familiarity with software development practices including source control, issue tracking, testing, deployment, maintenance, and user support.
  • Practical experience applying Lean, Agile, Scrum, Kanban, or similar methodologies to improve team productivity and execution, along with familiarity with AI-assisted tools and productivity workflows.
  • Knowledge of design verification concepts, including verification planning, regressions, debug workflows, coverage closure, and ASIC development processes.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and collaboration skills, with experience in semiconductor, silicon design, IP development, design verification, or other complex engineering environments preferred.
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science.
