THE ROLE: 

The ideal candidate will demonstrate knowledge in electrostatic discharge (ESD) design and protection verifications in advanced ASIC and FPGA applications. This position requires a basic understanding of device physics, ESD protection principles, circuit design simulations/verifications, and silicon manufacturing processes. Familiarity with circuit simulation/verification tools, layout analysis, data interpretation, and device characterization is essential. Experience in testing and measurement of ESD performance is preferred.

 

THE PERSON:  

This role is suited for a self-motivated individual who can learn quickly, take initiative in their projects, and effectively resolve technical challenges. Strong collaboration and communication skills are critical, as the position involves working with cross-functional teams. Typically, the candidate will hold a degree in Electronic Engineering or a physical science and possess substantial relevant industry experience.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Participate in ESD protection schemes in the advanced Si technologies
  • Support the design and verification of ESD protection circuits in FPGA and ASIC applications
  • Assist in performing simulation, and validation of ESD protection effectiveness
  • Assist in layout review to ensure compliance with ESD design guidelines
  • Interpret silicon measurement data and correlate with simulation models to improve design accuracy
  • Conduct basic SPICE modelling and simulation tasks
  • Collaborate with senior ESD engineers and cross-functional teams to utilize PDKs and perform parasitic extraction
  • Engage in ESD testing and measurement activities

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:  

  • Understanding of ESD design and protection strategies in advanced logic technologies (beyond 7nm)
  • Familiarity with industry-standard EDA tools, such as Cadence Virtuoso or Calibre PERC, is a preferred
  • Knowledge of SPICE circuit simulations for ESD transient events
  • Understanding of foundry PDKs, parasitic extraction, and basic physical verification flows
  • Experience or coursework in EM simulation tools is beneficial
  • Awareness of semiconductor technologies and trends
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities in cross-functional environments
  • Master's or Ph.D. degree in Electronic Engineering or a physical science discipline, along with relevant technical or industry experience
