THE ROLE:

Our growing team plays a major role in architecting and shaping data center GPUs offered by AMD. As part of the Exerciser team, you will develop low-level software and GPU workloads designed to stress the system and uncover hardware and software issues early in the development cycle. You will collaborate closely with design, emulation, driver, firmware, and debug teams.

Candidates with a background or strong skills in both GPU and systems programming (Linux kernel and userspace) will excel in this role. Out-of-the-box thinking and leveraging of novel approaches to address tough technical challenges is encouraged. Join our growing team to accelerate the introduction of cutting-edge compute products into the datacenter market.

THE PERSON:

We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented engineer with strong problem-solving skills. The ideal candidate has solid C/C++ programming fundamentals and experience working close to hardware (e.g., GPUs, CPUs, or embedded systems).

Experience with GPU programming and/or Linux systems (kernel or userspace) is a plus, but not strictly required. You should be comfortable working both collaboratively and independently, and able to ramp quickly in a fast-paced environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop new applications utilizing knowledge of the underlying microarchitecture to discover issues in hardware and software
  • Participate in debugging to root cause critical issues
  • Contribute to in-house stress application frameworks

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Modern C++ programming
  • Experience working with or close to hardware (GPU, CPU, or embedded systems)
  • GPU programming (CUDA, HIP, OpenCL) — strong plus
  • Understanding of GPU or CPU architecture — plus
  • Parallel programming, concurrency, and memory models
  • Low-level or firmware development
  • Linux systems programming (kernel or userspace)
  • Debugging complex issues across software and hardware boundaries
  • Experience in validation, bring-up, or stress testing environments

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
