THE ROLE

AMD is looking for a highly talented engineer to join our AMD Instinct Engineering team, responsible for AMD Instinct Product features/platform validation and enablement through At-Scale Methodology.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Test planning, execution and regression with CI/CD and At-Scale Validation
• Designing and developing test automation scripts
• Include debugging AI and HPC systems with an emphasis on platform system level debug.
• Ability to utilize debug features within development languages and/or familiarity with debug tools in development environments/IDE of choice
• Experience with test-driven development, analysis and reporting
• Collaborating with business analysists and software developers, validators and system debuggers to develop BKC regression
• Knowledge and use of standard debuggers, programmers, and emulators.
• Further requirements include a strong understanding of BIOS, OS, and driver interactions at the system level as well as a proficient understanding of x86 CPU architecture, GPU architecture and functionality.
• Providing root cause analysis and guidance to internal and customer design teams to help close issues.
• A self-starter required and able to deal with a high level of ambiguity.
• Work with cross-functional teams to improve post-silicon validation test strategy, methodology, and process.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

• Experience with GPU, SoC architecture and microprocessor cores
• Understanding of modern x86 microprocessor architecture and AI/HPC platform architecture is highly desired.
• Experience developing validation methodologies and infrastructure.
• Test plan and test development experience
• Participated in silicon bring up and debug, support to internal engineering teams.
• Debug skills at both SoC and system level
• Automation Experience
• Knowledge of best practices for hardware and/or software validation
• Remote hardware triage/setup/support
• Familiarity with programming / scripting language (C/C++, Python, Perl, ...)
• Working knowledge of Server OSes (Linux, Windows)
• Must be a self-starting team player with excellent communication skills who can work with minimal guidance.
• Forward thinker that drives improvement to development process, code architecture and fosters a spirit of innovation and continuous improvement.
• Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
• Working knowledge of lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers and protocol analyzers
• AI/HPC software stacks, ROCm, TensorFlow or Pytorch is a plus with regards to AI application
• Self-organizing and the ability multitask based on priorities.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical/Computer Engineering or Electronics / Computer Science related with 4 years of experience in SoC validation and debug.
