THE ROLE:

AMD's Adaptive and Embedded Computing Group is expanding rapidly, aiming to be the leading silicon and solutions provider across the various embedded market segments, from Edge to Cloud. With a world‑class portfolio spanning CPUs, APUs, GPUs, and FPGAs, we enable Tier‑1 Networking and Storage, Automotive, Robotics, Industrial, Aerospace/Defense customers to build differentiated, high‑performance platforms.

 

This highly visible role directly impacts customer success and the overall growth of AMD's embedded business. You will influence next‑generation product roadmap, guide customer technical execution, and develop innovative system architecture and solutions.

 

THE PERSON:

This position blends system and SoC/computer architecture expertise, technical leadership with external customer‑facing technical ownership.

 

Internally, you will help define next‑generation platform solutions across heterogeneous hardware and software environments for various market segments and target use cases.

Externally, you will lead deep technical engagements with customers—becoming the trusted technical advisor for their programs, shaping architectures, and driving solutions that deliver maximum performance and value.

 

Success in this role requires the ability to connect concepts across domains, architect complex features, and guide both AMD teams and customers toward optimal solutions.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Research, define, and drive system level solutions for future products targeting one or more of the following market segments: Networking, Security, Storage, Automotive, Robotics, Industrial, Aerospace/Defense.
  • Serve as the overall systems engineer for strategic customer accounts, often across multiple programs.
  • Perform gap analysis and lead solutions architecting for pre–design win engagements to influence and secure wins.
  • Translate customer needs into actionable technical requirements across domains and components.
  • Provide hands on leadership throughout execution of customer development programs, solving complex technical problems and ensuring cross domain alignment.
  • Ensure customer designs make optimal architectural choices to achieve best possible performance on AMD platforms.
  • Build PoCs, demos, and use case optimizations; collaborate with ecosystem partners to deliver complete solutions.
  • Define and develop reference designs to showcase solution value.
  • Stay current on industry trends and feed insights into AMD's roadmap planning.
  • Create technical papers, reference solutions, and application notes for internal, NDA, or public audiences.
  • Present at key technical events and represent AMD's solution leadership.

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Strong understanding of x86 architecture.
  • Background in technologies, technical standards, and system architectures of embedded applications and use cases for one or more of the following market segments: Networking, Security, Storage, Automotive, Robotics, Industrial, Aerospace/Defense.
  • Hands‑on development experience with CPUs/GPUs/FPGAs, middleware, system‑level drivers (BSP, HAL, kernel), firmware/BIOS.
  • Deep knowledge of Linux OS and systems programming.
  • Experience with virtualization and hypervisors.
  • Strong C/C++ development and scripting skills (Python).
  • Broad system‑level experience spanning processors, platforms, BIOS, firmware, AI/ML, applications and frameworks like DPDK, SPDK.
  • AI/Deep Learning experience is a significant plus.
  • Ability to connect cross‑domain technical dots and maintain a strong systems viewpoint.
  • Customer‑facing experience with a record of enabling successful product development.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and influence skills.
  •  

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Engineering degree in EE or CS.
