THE ROLE:
We are looking for a dynamic, energetic Systems Design Infrastructure Engineer to join our growing team. As a key contributor to the success of AMD's product, you will be part of a leading team to drive and improve AMD's abilities to deliver the highest quality, industry leading technologies to market. The G&E SOC Engineering team fosters and encourages continuous technical innovation to showcase successes as well as facilitate continuous career development.
THE PERSON:
As a Systems Design Infrastructure Engineer, you will apply advanced systems engineering and data analysis techniques to evaluate workload behavior, identify bottlenecks, and drive measurable improvements in infrastructure efficiency. In this high-visibility role, you will translate complex system utilization data into actionable insights that improve product development velocity, reduce operational cost, and increase effective compute capacity.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Make timely, informed decisions and judgment calls on resource allocations that balance team needs with broader organizational priorities.
- Collaborate closely with Engineering and IT to support efficient compute operations and continuous improvement.
- Analyze compute workloads at both macro and micro levels to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for optimization.
- Monitor and evaluate LSF job behavior and resource usage, including reservation, utilization, submission parameters, and prediction/override mechanisms.
- Leverage AI in developing and improving a wide array of tools to analyze utilization, detect misuse, and recommend improvements.
- Operate, refine, and automate command line and shell-based workflows to support analysis, reporting, and troubleshooting.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Strong understanding of LSF job concepts, including resource reservation, utilization, submission parameters, resource prediction, and overrides.
- Intermediate or advanced Linux command line, python, and shell scripting skills; comfortable spending significant time in a command-line environment.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze large datasets to generate insights and actionable recommendations.
- Proficiency using a wide variety of tools for analyzing compute utilization, workflow performance, problem areas, and misuse.
- Ability to make frequent judgment calls with an organization-first mindset.
- Experience writing and executing SQL queries.
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in electrical or computer engineering or a related technical discipline, or equivalent.
