Title: Manager of Safety & Compliance
Reporting to: Sr. Director of Safety & Compliance
Location: Cherryvale, KS
Field Work: Up to 70% of your time will be spent in the operation
Compensation: Competitive salary based on experience
Days/Hours: Day shift with occasional off shift hours as needed

What you'll be doing:
- Acquire the necessary knowledge in OSHA, EPA, FRA, USDA, FDA, etc. in the subjects at this soy processing facility such as grain handling, PSM, emergency response and planning, rail operations, health monitoring, emissions testing and monitoring, etc. There's also a small nuclear component unique to this facility that will need to meet all compliance standards.
- Oversee and maintain the PSM program and complete reviews and inspections related to compliance at the facility. Maintain related records and appropriate communication to management and local, state, and federal agencies.
- Create, prepare, administer, and present site-specific training programs for plant staff, new hire personnel, and contractors including, but not limited, to OSHA and EPA regulations and Bartlett specific requirements. Administer the other company training programs that are non-site specific. Contract with outside agencies or contractors to provide training as necessary in specialized subjects.
- Monitor Team Members and equipment for safety, health, and environmental compliance. Administer SMS system, ensure tasks performed are updated and incidents/accidents are entered in a timely manner and closed upon investigation.
- Manage the permits for the facility, with a heavy focus on environmental related permits specific to Air Permitting, SWPPP, and SPCC.
- Collect and test air and water samples and suggest necessary changes.
- Work on special projects and cover for absent plant supervisory team members.
- Lead the safety committee/safety specialists through organization of meetings, topics and development of problem resolutions.
- Enforce company policies and procedures. Review operating procedures to ensure they are compliant with policy.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
What you need to be successful:
- Bachelor's degree strongly preferred
- Preferred 3-5 years' work experience in a dedicated safety & compliance position or a degree in Safety.
- A high sense of integrity, professional courage, sound judgment and sense of urgency
- A motivated self-starter who can work well both independently and as part of a team
- Experience in OSHA's PSM standard
- Experience working with regulatory agencies (OSHA, EPA, KDHE, etc.)
Effective oral and written communication skills, including public presentation ability in English - Knowledge of SDS
- Experience with soy processing (oil, soybean meal, pellets) is preferred
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft office and the ability to quickly learn and utilize other standardized systems and software
- Strong organization skills and strong attention to details
- Must be able to drive and meet company insurance requirements
- Acquiring the ASP and CSP certifications is preferred.

- This job can be physically strenuous as up to 70% of your time will be spent in the operation
- You will be expected to be able to work in tight and confined spaces
- You will work at heights up to 150'
- You will need the ability to frequently lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds and occasionally more
- This job will require the ability to ascend/descend ladders
- You will be required to wear PPE
