Position Summary  

The School of Business & Technology division is seeking qualified candidates for a full-time tenure track faculty member for Fall 2025 in the Digital Media Arts department. The Digital Media Arts faculty will perform duties and functions under the general direction of the Provost and shall be responsible primarily to the Dean of the School of Business & Technology.

The successful candidate must reside in Washington State by the start of the position and demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching in person. This includes teaching on the Bellevue College campus and participating in non-teaching duties such as committee service, advising, and professional development activities. While there may be opportunities to teach online or hybrid courses, faculty are expected to maintain a significant presence on campus to support students, collaborate with colleagues, and contribute to the college community.

Pay, Benefits & Work Schedule  

Position Salary Range: $81,757.08/year - $114,664.94/year

Annual salary is based on a 176-day contract with a minimum of $81,757.08; beginning salary will be determined by the assessment of the candidate's education and related experience. New hires start no higher than $87,663.74 unless exceptional circumstances prevail. Certain positions may also be eligible for assignment/project-based additional compensation, including a High Demand Stipend up to $8,350 annually, prorated based on the discipline and duration of the assignment. All additional compensations are subject to change depending on funding and negotiated agreement.

In addition to teaching, full-time faculty maintains office hours and participate in department and college activities. This position is represented by the Bellevue College Association of Higher Education (BCAHE) union.

About the Department  

The Digital Media Arts (DMA) program is one of five professional-technical programs within the institute and offers an associate¿s degree featuring student-selected concentrations. Students are prepared for entry-level positions in graphic design, game design, 3D art and design, video/film, UX/UI design, and motion graphics. We take pride in our commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive environment, both through our curriculum and our community engagement, ensuring that students from all backgrounds have the support and resources they need to succeed.

Essential Functions  

Bellevue College seeks a forward-thinking educator who is committed to using their expertise in Digital Media Arts (DMA) as a vehicle for change, empowerment, and inclusion.  Bellevue College is seeking qualified candidates for a full-time tenured faculty position in the Digital Media Art Program for the 2025-2026 academic year.  The successful candidate will exhibit a passion for education and a commitment to student success, fulfilling responsibilities that include but are not limited to:

  • Instructional excellence in a range of DMA courses, potentially covering Graphic Design, Motion Graphics, Game Design, 3D Art & Design, Video Production, Storytelling, or Project Management.
  • Curriculum development and assessment, actively participating in program changes/updates.
  • Academic advising and mentoring, fostering student growth and professional development.
  • Active engagement in college, divisional, and program governance.
  • Serving as program chair if needed, driving forward program objectives and maintaining accreditation standards.
  • Professional development to ensure expertise in DMA disciplines remains current.
  • Collaborate on initiatives aimed at improving educational access, reducing achievement gaps, and promoting the success of all students, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability status, or socioeconomic background.
  • Engage in community outreach with a lens towards amplifying voices and perspectives traditionally underrepresented in digital media.
Minimum Qualifications  
  • Master¿s degree from an accredited institution in Digital Media Arts or a closely related field.
  • Current Professional Experience in Digital Media Art or related industry.
  • Experience in teaching and/or mentoring in diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
  • Advanced skills in at least three of the following areas: Graphic Design, Motion Graphics, Game Design, 3D Art & Design, Video Production, Storytelling, or Project Management.
  • Demonstrated ability to connect and build relationships with students and colleagues from varied ethnicities, ages, backgrounds, learning styles, and abilities.
Preferred Qualifications  
  • Additional degree in related field or education from an accredited institution in a related field.
  • Leadership experience in current Digital Media, education, and/or related industry.
  • Awareness and application of current industry trends in the digital media arts.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively teach in traditional, hybrid and fully online environments.
  • Record of active contribution to DEI efforts, whether through teaching, professional service, or community engagement.
  • Experience with culturally responsive pedagogy and practice in teaching.
  • Evidence of understanding and addressing equity gaps within the DMA discipline.
  • Previous leadership experience in an academic or professional setting, such as serving as a program chair, department head, team lead, or other significant leadership roles.
  • Demonstrated willingness and readiness to assume leadership roles within the program and the institution, including but not limited to program chair responsibilities, committee chairmanship, or leading special project teams.
