Position Summary  

Yakima Valley College is accepting applications for a full-time Radiologic Sciences Instructor who is active and accomplished in their discipline, has a record of successful teaching or related experience, and is committed to community college students and their success.

This is a full-time, special faculty (non-tenure track) position, reporting to the Assistant Dean of Health Professions with an anticipated start of September 1, 2026. This position is based on the Yakima or Grandview campus as assigned and is not approved for remote assignment.

YVC offers opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration, encourages cooperative learning, and uses technologies in the classroom and for e-learning. All faculty are engaged in the assessment of college goals and purposes.

Essential Duties  
  • Create an equitable learning environment dedicated to meeting students' needs.
  • Teach a variety of Radiologic Sciences courses in lecture, lab, and clinical practicum as assigned.
  • Provide clinical supervision of students, including student evaluation and advising. Requires routine travel to clinical sites.
  • Participate enthusiastically in department, divisional, and college leadership opportunities including department head, scheduling, governance committees, and curriculum committee.
  • Maintain and upgrade knowledge and skills to keep curriculum current and relevant.
  • Use and explore new technologies to support student success.
  • Provide student-centered academic advising within YVC's Guided Pathways model.
  • Serve on institutional and community committees, including advisory and K-12 partnership committees.
  • Create and maintain industry relationships to provide externship opportunities for students.
  • Be a collaborative partner in the Radiologic Sciences Department and with faculty and staff campus-wide.
  • Participate in JRCERT assessment data collection and analysis.
  • Create and update curricula including course outlines and syllabi, based on educational research and industry trends.
  • Participate in advisory committee meetings and program recruitment.
  • Maintain Professional Technical Educator certification, including a professional development plan and any certifications required by the program (per WAC 131-16-092 and 131-16-093).
  • Demonstrate commitment to an educational philosophy appropriate to a Hispanic-Serving Institution, the community college system, and the needs of its diverse populations.
  • Willingness to teach alternate hours as needed.

     

     

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities  

Knowledge Of

  • Adult learning theory and techniques.
  • Academic and career advising principles.
  • Radiologic Science content areas including Advanced Imaging and Pathology, Radiographic Positioning, Clinical Education, Radiation Physics, Radiation Biology, Patient Care, Image Production and Evaluation, Quality Management, and Digital Radiography.

Ability To

  • Work in person on the Yakima or Grandview campus as assigned.
  • Teach a flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, online, or hybrid.
  • Work effectively with supervisors, colleagues, staff, and students as part of an education team.
  • Collaborate with industry partners and develop relationships within the regional healthcare community.
  • Create a collegial working environment and meet institutional deadlines, including timely grading, student feedback, committee work, and other requests.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal communication skills when interacting with colleagues, staff, students, administrators, community partners, and individuals of various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Minimum Qualifications  
  • Bachelor's degree in Radiography or related field (ARRT) from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Credentials in radiography by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or suitable equivalent qualifications.
  • Equivalent of three years full-time professional experience as a radiographer, of which 200 hours have been obtained within the past five years.
  • Demonstrated successful teaching experience or assisting with student clinical training in more than one of the following Radiologic Technology Curriculum areas: 
    • Advanced Imaging and Pathology
    • Radiographic Positioning
    • Clinical Education
    • Radiation Physics
    • Radiation Biology
    • Patient Care
    • Image Production and Evaluation
    • Quality Management
    • Digital Radiography.
  • Must hold or be eligible for Radiologic Technologist Certification in the State of Washington.
  • Eligibility for professional technical certification in the State of Washington (per WAC 131-16-080 and 131-16-091).
Desired Qualifications  
  • Minimum of one year teaching experience.
  • One year of professional experience as a radiographer obtained in a clinical education center for RT students.
  • Master's Degree in Education, Radiography, or related field.
  • ARRT Certification in CT.
  • Experience in modalities of special procedures, CT, MRI, and Radiologic Information Systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop curriculum and deliver instruction in multiple modes (online, hybrid, and face-to-face).
  • Proven culturally responsive teaching practice.
