Seattle College District at Siegal Center is looking to hire a Vice Chancellor of Information Technology (Chief Information Officer) in the Information Technology Department.
Salary Range for this position is $168,422 to $232,583 annually (depending on experience).
Opportunity is open until filled, first review of materials will begin March 23rd, 2026.
Position Summary
Reporting directly to the Chancellor, the Vice Chancellor and Chief Information Officer is responsible for providing effective leadership, strategic management, vision, budgeting, policy and standards, and administration for all IT related services and enterprise architecture at all three Seattle Colleges, district and other satellite sites which make up Seattle Colleges District, to support the success of students, faculty and staff. This position includes overall responsibility for system-wide IT planning, cybersecurity, risk management, data governance, project management, technology acquisition, vendor and partner management, digital transformation, and IT support services such as help desk, desktop support, enterprise-level software, and servers and networking infrastructure within Seattle Colleges. The CIO serves as a member of the Chancellor's Executive Cabinet.
This position directly supervises 9 IT staff (Managers and Specialists) and has indirect oversight of 41 others for a total of 50 IT staff.
This position is full-time, working 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, primarily 8:00 A.M to 5:00 P.M.
This position works a hybrid schedule of both remote and on-site work

What you will be working on:
Strategic Leadership & Alignment
- Ensure all IT strategies, initiatives, and investments directly support Seattle Colleges mission, values, and strategic plan.
- Provide change leadership to introduce and scale new and emerging technologies (including AI) that enhance teaching, learning, and administrative effectiveness in secure and sustainable ways.
- Communicate IT value, risks, priorities, and opportunities to the Board of Trustees, senior leadership, and campus stakeholders.
Cybersecurity, Risk Management & Policy
- Maintain and continuously strengthen cybersecurity posture, including data security, backup and recovery systems, risk management practices, staff readiness, and documentation.
- Develop, implement, and maintain technology related policies, standards, and best practices that support secure, equitable, and reliable technology use for students, faculty, and staff.
Technology Operations & Infrastructure
- Provide executive oversight for all operational IT services, including hardware, software, networking, servers, cloud and on-premise infrastructure, and enterprise systems.
- Direct all voice and data communications systems across the district, including administrative, instructional, and security platforms.
- Oversee comprehensive IT support services for students, faculty, and staff, including the help desk (in-person and online), desktop support, classroom and conference room technologies, student success platforms, the enterprise student information system, and library technology systems.
People Leadership & Organizational Culture
- Serve as a coach, mentor, and advocate for IT staff, fostering an innovative, collaborative, and inclusive culture that values diverse perspectives and delivers high-quality service.
- Build and sustain high-performing teams capable of supporting a complex, multi-campus environment.
Budget, Procurement & Vendor Management
- Ensure fiscal responsibility through development and management of all IT related budgets, including authorization of expenditures and adherence to approved operating plans.
- Oversee technology procurement, vendor relationships, and contract negotiations to ensure best value and compliance with state and district procurement requirements.
External Relations & Representation
- Represent Seattle Colleges with state and regional entities, including the State Board for Community and Technical Colleges (SBCTC) and the Washington State IT Commission, ensuring regular communication, collaboration, and alignment with statewide initiatives.

What you bring as a candidate: (Any Equivalent Combination of Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education and Experience)
- Eight(8) years of progressively responsible IT leadership experience.
- Master's degree in information technology, information systems, computer science, business administration, public administration, or a related field; or equivalent demonstrated experience in successful IT executive leadership.
- Demonstrated success leading strategic and operational planning, including navigating funding constraints, regulatory requirements, and shared governance environments.
- Demonstrated experience working effectively in a unionized environment, including understanding of collective bargaining agreements, labor management collaboration, and shared governance structures.
- Demonstrated experience applying structured change management practices to support technology adoption and organizational transformation.
- Demonstrated experience in cybersecurity oversight, IT risk management, project management, and complex budget development and administration.
- Demonstrated excellence in building, leading, and developing diverse IT services staff teams.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, emotional intelligence, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across a diverse academic community.
