Job Overview
An Area Manager is a motivated, customer-focused position responsible for leading a team of hourly-workforce and maintaining Bob's core values. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in safety, quality, and performance to exemplify those core values and foster a positive culture of growth and development for all employees. You will collaborate closely with other team members to encourage a diversified workforce, maintain constant open communication throughout the operation, and protect customer expectations through sustained operations.

Technical/Functional Competencies
- Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Warehouse Management System (WMS) and Microsoft Office. Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new systems and technologies.
- Financial Acumen / KPI / Sales-Driven Focus: Ability to meet and exceed key performance metrics, including financial targets and customer satisfaction scores. Manages labor costs, productivity rates, and budget adherence. Tracks and improves KPI's such as UPH, cost per unit, on-time shipping, and fill rate. Understands P&L impact of the operation and drives cost efficiencies.
- Customer Satisfaction: Demonstrated commitment to enhancing the customer experience. Meet customer commitments by focusing on quality and accuracy- minimizing damage of products. Responds quickly to service failures and implements corrective actions.
- Process Improvement: Proven ability to streamline workflows and implement effective process improvements. Ability to drive process improvement initiatives (Lean, Kaizen, and/or Six Sigma).
- Strategic Thinking and Planning: Capability to develop and implement strategic plans aligned with business objectives. Supports labor planning, capacity planning, and peak readiness strategies.
Preferred Competencies and Skills
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus, given the workforce composition at several of Bob's distribution centers.
- Prior experience in a high-volume retail or furniture distribution environment.
- Experience supporting peak-season operations with fluctuating volume and staffing.

Compensation
- Starting annual salary of $67,000 - $80,000 (based on experience) + bonus potential

Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a warehouse environment with at least 2 years lead or management experience.
- Understanding of supply chain and distribution center operations.
- Experience in using a warehouse management system (WMS) – preferably SAP, as well as Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
- Ability to communicate proactively and effectively including comprehending and communicating detailed instructions, reading and writing, and having knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures as required by the position.
- Must be at least 18 years old to be considered for employment with Bob's.
Physical Demands
- Able to sit, walk, stand, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, twist, push, pull, climb, balance, crouch, push and handle and move items weighing up to 50 lbs without assistance.
- Ability to move throughout all areas of the distribution center.
- Move objects up to 250 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodations
- Stand and walk continuously to perform job functions.
- Standing, walking, lifting, and arranging product: 80%
- Sitting, desk and phone work: 20%
