DC Operations Manager
Job Overview
An Operations Manager is a results-driven leader responsible for overseeing multiple functional areas within the distribution center and leading a team of salaried Area Managers and their hourly workforce in alignment with Bob's core values. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in operational strategy, safety, quality, and performance to drive departmental outcomes and foster a positive culture of growth and development across multiple teams. You will collaborate closely with peer Operations Managers, support functions, and senior leadership to shape departmental strategy, develop your leadership bench, and ensure sustained operational performance that protects customer commitments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Apply your expertise to support, mentor, and motivate your salaried leaders and broader workforce.
- Lead department-wide efforts in safety, quality, and productivity to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Demonstrate proficiency in talent management by evaluating performance, completing employee reviews, and building leadership bench strength.
- Collaborate with peer leaders, support functions, and senior leadership to develop plans and navigate barriers to achieve business objectives.
- Utilize knowledge and expertise to define roles, priorities, and success criteria for your salaried leaders and their teams.
- Continuously monitor and optimize department performance for efficiency using key performance indicators.

Delivers daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly operational targets (UPH, SLA, Cost, Quality) at the department level.

Technical/Functional Competencies
- Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Warehouse Management System (WMS) and Microsoft Office. Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new systems and technologies.
- Financial Acumen / KPI / Sales-Driven Focus: Ability to meet and exceed department performance metrics, including financial targets and customer satisfaction scores. Manages department labor costs, productivity rates, and budget adherence. Tracks and improves KPI's such as UPH, cost per unit, on-time shipping, and fill rate at the department level. Understands P&L impact of the operation and drives cost efficiencies within the department.
- Customer Satisfaction: Demonstrated commitment to enhancing the customer experience. Meet customer commitments by driving quality and accuracy standards and minimizing damage of products across multiple areas. Responds quickly to service failures and implements sustainable corrective actions.
- Process Improvement: Proven ability to streamline workflows and implement effective process improvements across multiple areas. Ability to lead and sponsor process improvement initiatives (Lean, Kaizen, and/or Six Sigma).
- Strategic Thinking and Planning: Capability to develop and implement department strategic plans aligned with site and network business objectives. Owns department labor planning, capacity planning, and peak readiness strategies.
Preferred Competencies and Skills
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus, given the workforce composition at several of Bob's distribution centers.
- Prior experience in a high-volume retail or furniture distribution environment.
- Experience supporting peak-season operations with fluctuating volume and staffing.

Compensation
- Starting annual salary of $85,000 - $100,000 (based on experience) + bonus potential

Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a warehouse environment with at least 2 years management experience.
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain, logistics, or related field preferred.
- Experienced with process improvement initiatives and owning performance metrics.
- Exceptional understanding of supply chain and distribution center operations.
- Experience in using a warehouse management system (WMS) – preferably SAP, as well as Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
- Ability to communicate proactively and effectively including comprehending and communicating detailed instructions, reading and writing, and having knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures as required by the position.
- Must be at least 18 years old to be considered for employment with Bob's.
Physical Demands
- Able to sit, walk, stand, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, twist, push, pull, climb, balance, crouch, push and handle and move items weighing up to 50 lbs without assistance.
- Ability to move throughout all areas of the distribution center.
- Move objects up to 250 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodations
- Stand and walk continuously to perform job functions.
