Job Description

Installation and repair of complex electromechanical equipment

Troubleshooting / diagnosing computer/software controlled machinery that utilizes a combination of various components to function such as AC and DC motors, Stepper motors, solenoids, belts, rollers, bearings, guides and pneumatics (compressed air controlled by valves used to actuate components) and electronic sensors (photo-detectors, proximity switches, limit switches and lasers)

- Experience assembling and disassembling of this type of machinery

- Experience repairing/rebuilding of sub-assemblies for use in machinery

- Experience troubleshooting the electronics and mechanical components such as troubleshooting/replacing defective circuit boards, relays and/or time delay relays, contactors, switches, push buttons, blown fuses, moving parts, etc.

- Experience troubleshooting computer/software aspect of this type of machinery, see below

- Experience with large material handling, packaging and conveyor systems that transports items from one location to another

- Experience with automated manufacturing machines

- Would consider extensive automotive mechanic experience, combination of mechanical and electrical diagnosis, assembly, disassembly and repair to include all of the following: engines, drive belts, transmissions and brakes along with integrated electronic systems.

 

Knowledge of computer hardware and software

  • Familiar with troubleshooting, upgrading and replacing hard drives/solid state drives
  • Familiar with installing and upgrading software
  • Familiar with troubleshooting software errors
  • Familiar with troubleshooting networking/communication errors
  • Familiar with navigating computer operating system/file directories

Use of documentation to service and maintain complex electromechanical machinery

  • Experience utilizing technical, service and operating manuals to troubleshoot and maintain electromechanical machinery
  • Ability to read and utilize schematics to troubleshoot electromechanical machinery
  • Experience utilizing machine/software generated reports and logs to repair, track, maintain and improve performance

Basic Electrical and Electronic principles

  • Ohm's Law – voltage, current, resistance
  • Difference between AC and DC voltage and how to measure
  • Difference between single phase and three phase power, how to measure it
  • Electric Circuits – closed circuit, open circuit, Short circuit, series circuit, parallel circuit
  • Signal tracing using a voltage meter

Use of hand, power tools and testing equipment

  • Voltage meter
  • Drills
  • Screwdrivers
  • Plyers
  • Wrenches
  • Ratchets/sockets
  • Soldering irons

Use of productivity software

  • Microsoft Office – word, excel, outlook, etc
  • Microsoft Teams
