System Medical Director of Infection Prevention and Control/Healthcare Epidemiologist - Carilion Clinic
Carilion Clinic, a leading healthcare provider in Southwest Virginia, is seeking applicants for the position of Medical Director of Infection Prevention and Control/Healthcare Epidemiologist. This leadership role offers the opportunity to shape the future of infection prevention and control at a large, integrated health system in beautiful southwestern Virginia. The Medical Director will have an academic appointment in the Section of Infectious Disease, Department of Internal Medicine at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine.
We are looking for a dynamic, growth-focused Infectious Disease leader with excellent clinical experience, proven academic interest, vision and creativity. The System Medical Director with oversee infection prevention and control (IPC) programs across our network of hospitals and clinical sites and will be based out of Roanoke and our flagship Level 1 trauma center.
Key responsibilities include leadership and program management, surveillance and data management, infection prevention and control, coordination with the antimicrobial stewardship program, quality improvement, public health and regulatory compliance, research and evaluation of IPC interventions, and education and training.
Qualifications include a medical degree with current ABIM certification in Infectious Disease; active engagement in SHEA or APIC; a minimum of 3 years of experience in IPC, preferably in a leadership role; and strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
