The Senior Payroll Specialist serves as a subject-matter expert for payroll processing using ADP platforms and plays a critical role in payroll system implementation, upgrades, and optimization. This position ensures accurate, timely, and compliant payroll execution while supporting system configuration, testing, training, and post-implementation stabilization. The Senior Payroll Specialist partners closely with Human Resources, Finance, Information Technology, and ADP implementation teams to ensure payroll processes align with organizational needs and regulatory requirements.

 

How You Will Impact Education

The Senior Payroll Specialist plays a critical role in supporting education by ensuring employees are paid accurately, timely, and in compliance with all regulations. By administering payroll and timekeeping systems, maintaining strong internal controls, and supporting ADP payroll implementation and enhancements, this role helps create operational stability across the organization. Accurate payroll operations allow school leaders and staff to focus on delivering high‑quality instruction and student support, while fostering trust, transparency, and fiscal responsibility throughout the educational environment.

 

Required Qualifications and Skills

The Senior Payroll Specialist must possess strong knowledge of payroll processing, payroll laws, and regulatory compliance, with demonstrated experience using ADP payroll systems. This role requires advanced analytical skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to administer and audit timekeeping records. The successful candidate will have the ability to utilize multiple systems for payroll processing and analysis, interpret data accurately, and resolve complex payroll issues. Strong communication, collaboration, and documentation skills are essential, as this position works closely with payroll management, team members, HR, and Finance to enhance payroll tools, controls, and procedures.

 

Job Requirements

This position requires a minimum of seven years of progressive payroll experience, including hands‑on payroll processing and timekeeping administration in a multi‑employee environment and multi state payroll processing. Experience supporting payroll system implementations, conversions, or major system enhancements preferably with ADP is required. The role demands the ability to meet strict payroll deadlines, manage multiple priorities, and maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee data.

 

A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
