Patient Experience Challenges / Focus: Post operative patients meeting goals to be ready for discharge home. Lots of patient movement on unit, many discharges and admissions.
Are Staff Required to Float? If so, where? Yes-2 Med-Surg Units and PCU
Common Patient Diagnosis: Orthopedic surgeries (knee, hip, shoulder), Orthopedic injuries, Oncology, Post Surgicals such as hysterectomies, breast reconstruction, plastic surgery, Urological cases and abdominal cases. Behavioral patients awaiting medical clearance
Additional Unit Support Staff: Educators, supervisors, patient companions, Student Nurse techs, Physical and Occupational therapy, Ortho nurse navigator
Common Drips / Medications: Heparin gtt, blood products
EMR System: EPIC
IV Pumps: Alaris
Specialty Equipment Available: Code Carts, LUCAS Machines, hoyer lift, Sit and Stand
Unit Challenges: Staffing, Quick turnaround of patients

ACLS Preferred, BLS
RN's - Pass/Fail exam on Friday during orientation. OPEN BOOK exam on skills learned - they are given all necessary resources to pass. Must receive a 90% to pass or they will be terminated.
