REGULATORY RELATIONS CONSULTANT WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

Responsible for ensuring end-to-end regulatory activity within RBC and its international entities including CNB are entered into the regulatory relations application, referred to as GRRID (Global Regulatory Relations Information Database) are accurately and consistently captured. Other responsibilities include training teams on using GRRID to capture regulatory activities, assisting with the implementation and day-to-day maintenance, identifying system performance issues, providing user feedback, and collaborating with IT and other teams to resolve technical challenges and assist in overseeing the implementation. Responsible for assisting in managing GRRID, tracking milestones and outputs to ensure successful execution and alignment of regulatory relations goals as defined by Regulatory Relations leadership. Monitors system updates and enhancements, ensuring users are informed of changes and best practices. Will be responsible for providing advice and support to business units in all regulatory matters. Works closely with Regulatory Relations colleagues to track exams, supervision, ad hoc requests, and follow-ups are entered within the system. Will raise concerns about observed thematic issues and potential regulatory concerns.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?
  • Responsible for ensuring end-to-end regulatory activity within RBC and its international entities including CNB are entered into GRRID are accurately and consistently captured.
  • Deliver training sessions on GRRID usage for internal teams and external stakeholders to drive adoption and compliance.
  • Support the implementation of GRRID and ensuring alignment with global regulatory requirements.
  • Will support the team that works with business and risk units to oversee and coordinate planning, fieldwork and final responses to external regulators, including but not limited to data requests and responses to exam findings.
  • Conduct system testing to validate GRRID functionality, accuracy, and compliance with regulatory expectations.
  • Analyzing current regulatory processes across multiple jurisdictions to identify inefficiencies and streamline compliance using GRRID.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance system efficiency and effectiveness.
  • As Needed, assist with researching and integrating regulatory intelligence into regulatory relations workflows to proactively address emerging risks.
  • Conduct comprehensive monitoring across all regions where the bank operates and interacts with regulators.
  • Monitor system updates, ensuring that teams remain informed of changes, enhancements, and best practices.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED? Required Qualifications*
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
  • Minimum 8 years of experience working in financial Industry, preferably in a regulatory-facing role
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in banking operations, compliance and/or risk management activities
Additional Qualifications
  • Strong interpersonal, influencing, and communications skills with an ability to interact effectively with stakeholders and regulators, as well as effectively building relationships within the Bank.
  • Exceptional writing skills, with ability to synthesize complex concepts and translate into effective presentations to external regulators and Senior Executives.
  • Working knowledge in a broad range of risk management disciplines including credit, market, and operational risks.
  • Experience being a part of a Regulatory Relations team for a large US bank.
  • Autonomous, detail oriented and highly motivated with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
  • Experienced in regulatory interaction, interaction with senior management, project and time management, exam management and issue management with excellent organizational, follow-up and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically and facilitate change through collaborative effort. Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivation, discipline, task focus, the ability to structure and present work and a proven record of delivering high quality results within strict deadlines.
  • Must have the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize several concurrent initiatives, both individually and for the team. Must be able to prioritize work for direct reports.
  • Experience communicating and interacting with regulatory agencies, including exam management and other regulatory affairs.
  • For Banking Compliance related roles, Certified Compliance Risk Manager (CRCM).
  • For Wealth Management Compliance roles, experience with a financial institution such as a broker/dealer and/or registered investment adviser.
  • For Wealth Management Compliance roles, experience working within a Compliance Investment Management role.

WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU? Compensation Starting base salary: $101,231 - $172,355 per year. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. This job is eligible for bonus and/or commissions.
