If so, consider these Accountant positions providing financial support for Capital Infrastructure at the City of Edmonton.
What will you do?
- Technical and professional advice: Providing department officials with professional accounting advice and guidance in matters pertaining to financial policies and procedures
- Maintain the General Ledger: Preparing, researching and managing journal entries, reconciliations, funding analysis and other related functions
- Maintain the Fixed Asset System: Ensure financial integrity of the Fixed Asset Module and application of appropriate capitalization rules and policies
- Monitor external funding agreements: Review and prepare supporting documentation for financial reporting requirements related to external funding arrangements
- Year End Statement Package: Preparing and organizing year-end working papers, departmental financial statement preparation and other related year end duties, within prescribed deadlines
- Participation in department projects, as required
- Professional Accounting Designation (CPA, CA, CMA, CGA) is required
- 3 years of progressively responsible accounting and reporting experience
Assets:
- Capital/project accounting experience is strongly preferred
Skills required for success:
- Significant knowledge and experience with Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, SAP and other related systems within the context of the work
- Considerable knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, requirements and practices
- Ability to maintain sustained attention to detail in checking and recording financial transactions
- Ability to perform complex financial analysis of accounting data
- Ability to prepare a variety of complex and diverse financial statements and reports
- High level of analytical and conceptual skills to identify and resolve complex financial issues and problems
- Ability to think logically and complete work with a high degree of accuracy
- Ability to effectively communicate and maintain a working relationship with all levels of management and non-management personnel
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational and time management skills are required
Work Environment:
- Note: This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with the flexibility to work from both home and the worksite as per the Letter of Understanding between the City of Edmonton and Civic Service Union 52.
- The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance.
