Are you passionate about the arts and looking for a way to bring creative programming to life in our community? The City of Edmonton is looking for a dedicated Arts Experience Program Coordinator- Culinary Arts & Performing Arts to join our Art, Heritage, and Nature section!
In this role, you will be the driving force behind a diverse range of Culinary and Performing arts-based recreation programs, ensuring that high-quality creative experiences are accessible to everyone. From the City Arts Centre to various outreach spaces, you will play a vital role in fostering a vibrant local arts culture. As an Arts Experience Program Coordinator, you will plan, coordinate, and implement a wide array of programs including Dance, Music, Theatre, Cooking/Baking, and more. You will be responsible for the entire program lifecycle, from initial planning and instructor recruitment to evaluating effectiveness and managing budgets. This position leads a large team of over 30 temporary staff and volunteers, providing them with the guidance and support needed to deliver exceptional experiences.
What will you do?
Plan and organize four seasons of arts community programs, including performing and culinary arts
Recruit, hire, train, and supervise a diverse team of temporary program specialists
Coordinate facility scheduling, supply inventories, and registration criteria for various locations
Develop promotional materials and implement low-cost marketing strategies to drive program awareness and attendance
Monitor program trends, collect feedback from community members, and propose modifications to meet emerging needs
Manage individual program budgets and follow corporate procurement processes for all supplies and equipment
Ensure safety protocols are followed, including maintaining SDS sheets and conducting facility orientations
Other duties as assigned
Degree in Fine/Performing Arts, Arts Administration, Education, or Recreation Administration
Minimum of one year of experience in program delivery
At least six (6) months of experience in staff supervision
Assets:
Experience working with reservation systems, particularly RAMS or Intelli
Proficiency with Google Suite, including Google Calendars and Forms
Strong understanding of social media platforms and digital marketing tools like Instagram and Facebook
Proven track record of providing exceptional customer service
Skills required for success:
Artistic Knowledge: Considerable familiarity with various culinary arts and performing arts disciplines
Leadership:Ability to provide clear direction, coaching, and support to a large, diverse team
Communication: Strong oral and written communication skills for interacting with collaborators and the public
Organization: Superior attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple competing deadlines and seasons simultaneously
Problem-Solving: Creativity in addressing operational challenges and facility logistics

Conditions of Employment:
Hire is dependent on Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Check satisfactory to the City of Edmonton, and there may be a cost associated with this requirement
Possession of Intermediate First Aid, CPR-C and AED certifications
Candidates are required to hold a valid Alberta Class 5 driver's license (or provincial equivalent) or higher. Candidates will be required to arrange their own transportation and, where appropriate, will be reimbursed in accordance with City of Edmonton policy. This may require the candidate to obtain business-use auto insurance

Work Environment:
Due to the nature of this work, this position is not eligible for a hybrid work arrangement
The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement, and the incumbent will be notified in advance
Some evening and weekend work will be required
This role works primarily in an indoor setting
You may be required to lift up to 20 lbs and perform light physical tasks such as reaching, pushing, or crouching while setting up program spaces
This is a public-facing role and requires engagement and interaction with diverse people from various backgrounds with different needs, expectations and emotional states

Up to 1 temporary full-time position for up to 18 months in accordance with Article 18.02 of the Collective Agreement
Hours of Work: 33.75 hours per week
Salary Range: $31.663 - $39.736 (Hourly); $55,782.290 - $70,004.900 (Annually)
