Description

Are you a highly organized and detail-oriented administrative professional looking to contribute to public safety? The City of Edmonton is seeking a dedicated Safety Codes Clerk to join our dynamic team within the Urban Planning and Economy department. In this role, you will play a crucial part in supporting the efficient operation of our Safety Codes Section, ensuring vital administrative functions run smoothly to help keep our community safe.

As a Safety Codes Clerk, you will be the backbone of administrative support for the Safety Codes Section of Development Services. Your responsibilities will involve a diverse range of tasks, from filtering information and completing action items to liaising with City staff, external agencies, and Safety Codes officials. This role requires a proactive individual who can manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy and professionalism.

What will you do?

  • Handle ongoing permit inquiries, including reviewing and processing daily inspection activity files and reports
  • Attach relevant documents to permits and manage change of owner or applicant requests
  • Respond to citizen and customer inquiries via phone and email, assisting with inspection scheduling and inquiry follow-up
  • Provide accurate and timely responses to customer inquiries, including handling refund processes and permit cancellations
  • Verify customer files and assist with online account set-up and troubleshooting
  • Maintain and process delinquent records, reviewing and resolving permit files older than two years
  • Coordinate physical mail-outs of Permit Service Reports and assign inspections as required
  • Support departmental processes, including scheduling, facilitating meetings, and compiling meeting materials
  • Research and compile data and source documents for supervisor review
  • Take minutes for meetings within the section and format technical guides for the Knowledge Library
Qualifications

  • Completion of the twelfth (12th) school grade, including business subjects with emphasis on general office practices, or completion of an appropriate certificate program from an approved business school/college
  • A minimum of 2 years of general office experience

Conditions of Employment:

  • Hire is dependent on a Criminal Records Check (CRC) security clearance that is satisfactory to the City of Edmonton

Work Environment:

  • Note: This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with the flexibility to work from both home and the worksite as per the Letter of Understanding between the City of Edmonton and Civic Service Union 52
  • The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time in accordance with the collective agreement

Salary Range: $26.640 - $33.081 (Hourly); $46,933.02 - $58,280.45 (Annually)
