Join our Environment and Climate Resilience team to help shape a sustainable future for Edmonton. We are seeking a dedicated professional to provide strategic analysis and coordination that advances our city's climate and energy goals.
Reporting to a Senior Environmental Engineer, you will support the development and implementation of decision-making processes, data, and tools for climate action. You will manage complex projects and collaborate across the organization to deliver on Council's climate resilience priorities and energy transition strategies. This role is essential for integrating climate risks and greenhouse gas emission impacts into the City's formal budgeting and planning processes.
What will you do?
- Plan and coordinate activities to improve the City of Edmonton's climate and energy programs and policies
- Collaborate with internal partners to develop budget requests and business cases for climate resilience initiatives
- Assess greenhouse gas emissions and climate risks for corporate projects to support the development of the City's Climate Budget
- Conduct special projects, research and write reports to advance strategic market transformation and community climate mitigation
- Provide recommendations and analytical support for project teams advancing environmental initiatives
- Facilitate engagement events to gather input and foster collaboration among internal groups
- Respond to emerging climate issues and inquiries from the community with professional recommendations
- University Degree in business administration, public administration, environmental sciences, engineering, or a related discipline
- Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in strategic and operational business planning, corporate performance measures, and business case development within the environment or climate change field
Assets:
- Leadership and project management experience within a public sector environment
- Training or experience in environmental regulations, water/air quality, carbon accounting, or emissions modelling
- Advanced proficiency with Google Sheets

- Translate complex environmental scientific information into meaningful insights for project teams and decision-makers
- Apply systems thinking to view environmental issues holistically across the organization
- Expertise in climate change mitigation, adaptation, and environmental risk assessment processes
- Navigate politically sensitive situations with acumen to create an environment of trust and respect
- Organize and manage multiple complex tasks and projects effectively
- Apply knowledge of local, regional, and global sustainability and climate resiliency issues
- Influence and collaborate effectively with a variety of partners and collaborators
- Collaborate within cross-functional teams to gather and share vital information

- Note: This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with the flexibility to work from both home and the worksite as per the Letter of Understanding between the City of Edmonton and Civic Service Union 52
- The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement, and the incumbent will be notified in advance
- This role works primarily in an indoor setting
- Availability to attend events during the evenings and weekends may be required from time to time
- This is a public-facing role and requires engagement and interaction with diverse people from various backgrounds with different needs, expectations and emotional states

Up to 1 Temporary Full-Time position for up to 11 months

Salary Range: $51.611 - $65.218 (Hourly)
