What will you do?
Tree Care Team:
- Assist Equipment Operator II's in chipping brush, stump grinding, delivery and hauling of various materials
- Operate and perform minor maintenance on equipment, which may include the use of chainsaws and various pruning tools
- Drive vehicles city wide, including 2 ton dump trucks
- General labour, including pulling out and carrying metal stakes, hand weeding around trees, cutting wire wrap around trees
- Provide traffic control and direction including greeting the public and providing prompt and courteous service
- Conduct job duties in a safe manner in compliance with City and Provincial Occupational Health and Safety Legislation regulations, codes, policies and competency training
- Assist Arborists to develop and maintain normal tree health and structure
- Assist Arborist with tree pruning and removals
- Perform ground worker operations
- Other related duties as required
Planting and Establishment Team:
- Plant trees manually and mechanically, digging and transplanting trees, including shovelling soil, digging holes, adding mulch and pounding metal stakes into ground and installing and removing wire around trees.
- Drive vehicles city wide, including 2 ton dump trucks
- General labour, including pulling out and carrying metal stakes, hand weeding around trees, cutting wire wrap around trees
- Provide traffic control and direction including greeting the public and providing prompt and courteous service
- Conduct job duties in a safe manner in compliance with City and Provincial Occupational Health and Safety Legislation regulations, codes, policies and competency training
- Adding or removing rodent protection from hand pruners open space and boulevard trees
- Removing basal sprouts (suckers) from trees using hand pruners or other hand tools
