Join us in protecting Edmonton's heritage and ensuring it remains a vibrant, educational space for years to come. Fort Edmonton Park is seeking a dedicated Museologist to ensure the historical integrity and preservation of our unique built environment.
In this role, you will oversee the authenticity of heritage buildings, signage, and overall visual integrity to create a safe and historically accurate experience for all visitors. You will serve as a vital link between facility maintenance, curatorial teams, and public programming to balance the goals of preservation with community access. By conducting in-depth research and collaborating with Indigenous knowledge keepers, you will help tell the rich, diverse stories of our region. Your work will be central to maintaining our status as a Recognized Museum while facilitating high-quality visitor experiences.
What will you do?
Conduct research on built infrastructure and local stories, including consultations with elders and Indigenous staff to ensure sites of significance are accurately represented.
Assist the Operations Supervisor in planning long-term preservation projects and ensuring work plans align with the facility's educational and safety goals as well as municipal and provincial heritage preservation standards..
Act as a liaison between programs, events, and curatorial teams to ensure historical accuracy in exhibits and public interpretation.
Collaborate with facility management teams to coordinate repairs, ensuring that infrastructure and decor is historically appropriate when visible to the public.
Provide guidance and oversight to on-site curatorial staff, including collaborating on work plans and supporting their professional development.
Perform other duties as required.
