The College of Southern Nevada is seeking a detail-oriented staff member to join the International Center team as an Senior Admissions & Records Assistant. This position is full-time, twelve-month, and eligible for benefits.
The Senior Admissions & Records Assistant reports directly to the Director of the International Center and serves as the Designated School Official (DSO), ensuring compliance with federal regulations. This role includes managing the preliminary student admissions process, supporting budget-related tasks data collection, and assisting at the front desk. We seek a candidate who understands the importance of helping international students with empathy and patience.
Duties and responsibilities include:
Serves as an Senior Admissions & Records Assistant and a Designated School Official (DSO), offering guidance to students on immigration requirements. Communicates with prospective students, their families, and agents about admission processes and change-of-status procedures for ESL, Degree, and Pathway programs, ensuring all admission criteria are met.
Inputs data into the MyCSN and Terra Dotta ISSS student systems, identifies anomalies, corrects errors, and manages data reporting. Updates student records, supports immigration reporting, and manages holds. Oversees the departmental admissions email account. Verifies students' health insurance, generates reports, audits records, and compiles international student admissions data for annual reports.
Prepares Workday requisitions, PCard payments, orders supplies, processes print requests, submits invoices for payment, and assists with managing agents' commissions and office debts.
The ideal candidate will have:
Experience serving diverse students, demonstrated sensitivity to cultural differences.
Knowledge of prospective students' application processes in relation to immigration regulations.
Familiarity with Student Affairs services, including duties at the front desk or reception.
Practical experience working with HIPAA, FERPA, or comparable federal, state, county, or local mandates.
Proficiency in working with student information systems, as well as maintaining complex databases and spreadsheets.
Ability to screen calls, evaluate the relative importance of each communication and refer to appropriate staff or department.
Knowledge of office budget management and accounting activities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively convey regulatory requirements to staff, faculty, and students from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of clerical experience, two years of which was in a college admissions and/or records office or relevant student services area which included records maintenance, public/customer relations, evaluation of detailed information and documents, and the explanation of complex policies and procedures; OR one year of experience as an Admissions & Records Assistant II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with higher education policies and procedures.
Knowledge of federal regulations and international affairs.
Familiarity with the admissions process for new students.
Experience working with student populations.
Weekly Schedule
Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Starting Salary
Grade 27, Step 1 - $46,207.44
*This position is contingent upon ongoing and available funding.
Per Nevada Administrative Code (NAC 284.170), salaries for initial appointments for classified positions typically begin at Step 1.
