The Highlights:

  • The Asian, Pacific Islander and Desi American Cultural Center (APIDA CC) provides resources, support services, community engagement and educational experiences to support students' academic and social success.  The APIDA CCC Program Coordinator is the primary resource for information, referrals and advocacy to address the needs of APIDA students at DePaul. This position promotes and fosters a campus environment that is inclusive of people from all identities while directly supporting APIDA students. The Center also provides a venue for all students to learn about Asian culture, heritage, and traditions. The position is within an identity-based center model that acknowledges and affirms the importance of intersectional and holistic student development.
     

What You'll Do:

  • Design, develop and implement programs and activities that promote APIDA student engagement. Serve as a collaborative partner with the other stakeholders to create programs and services that address and support the needs of APIDA students. 
  • Serve as a university liaison and proactive resource for APIDA student organizations, student leaders and advisors. 
  • Oversee the operation of the APIDA Cultural Center space facilitating a safe and supportive environment for students. Supervise graduate and undergraduate student staff and manage the Center's assigned budget resources. 
  • Develop and maintain institutional and non-institutional student referral sources for APIDA students. Initiate referrals for students to services such as Financial Aid, Academic Advising, Counseling Center, etc. 
  • Assess and report to university leaders on effectiveness of programs, services and student academic progress and persistence. 
  • Serve on university, divisional, and departmental committees as assigned. Interpret university policy to students, student groups, staff and parents. Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Director of the Office of Multicultural Student Success. 
  • Direct supervision of one graduate assistant and multiple undergraduate student staff.
  • Manage the Center's assigned budget resources of $30,000.
     
What You'll Need:
  • Master's degree preferred in Higher Education Administration, Counseling, Psychology, Social Work or related fields.
  • 1-3 years of experience in community development, program management and advising with demonstrated knowledge and understanding of race/ethnicity/class, college access issues.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of issues significant to APIDA student experiences.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of issues significant to diverse communities.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and implement educational and informational programs in a diverse cultural environment and to work collaboratively with a diverse group of students, faculty, and staff.
  • Must possess excellent individual, group, interpersonal and facilitation skills.
  • Must possess effective counseling and intervention skills.
  • Professional record of advocating for marginalized student populations, especially in a university setting.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, handle multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends.
     
The anticipated hiring range for this position is: $47,783.00 to $56,790.00 per year.  The salary range provided in this posting reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Actual compensation offered or earned is dependent on experience, education and other factors including departmental budget.
