The Highlights: Reporting to the Director of DePaul Art Museum, the Communications & Outreach Coordinator will manage communications marketing and outreach for DePaul Art Museum to increase awareness and build audiences. This position will develop and implement marketing communication efforts that meet budgetary and time constraints, while considering the museum's overall communication objectives, university brand and strategic goals. This position will also help build and manage long-term relationships with university and community partners and manage communication for museum programs. 


What You'll Do:

  •  Communications/Marketing: 
    ● Work with the Director to develop, implement and track strategic marketing & communication plans for exhibitions, programs, and the institution targeting audiences on and off campus
    ● Design exhibition, programmatic, and institutional communications elements
    ● Manage and update website and social media with original and engaging content
    ● Deliver information to local area listings 
    ● Expand and manage mail and email lists
    ● Develop project-specific outreach contact lists
    ● Produce dynamic monthly electronic newsletters for general audiences and campus community
    ● Implement surveys and collect data on visitor engagement
    ● Work closely with Curator and the university PR team to develop Public Relations materials for exhibitions
    ● Development of digital assets: photography, video, simple graphics for website, social media, advertising, e-communications, etc. Ability to work with Adobe Creative Suite to design ads, posters and social media content
    ● Maintain archive of press clippings, tear sheets, and promotional materials
    ● Coordinate projects with outside and/or internal vendors such as copywriters, graphic designers, web developers, photographers and printers. Responsible for creative development, production, proofreading/editing, fact checking, delivery and deadline management of each project. Manage prioritization of workload, balance multiple projects at one time and track work for divisional reporting.
  • Outreach:
    ●  Build relationships and manage outreach to targeted internal and external audiences (local schools and universities, arts groups, community organizations, etc) to promote general attendance, tours, class visits, and special events. 
    ● Coordinates and maintains master calendar of tours and class visits
  • Facility/Office Administration: 
    ● Maintain the office's general email and phone accounts.
    ● Develop and maintain signage throughout the museum
  •  This position may supervise a student intern but has no permanent supervisory responsibility.
  •  This position will be responsible for submitting accounts payable and a procard expenses related to outreach and communications under guidance of the museum director. All expenses must fall within the approved budget. 
     

What You'll Need:

  • B.A. required, with emphasis on marketing, English, or communications preferred, master's preferred
  • At least two years of relevant work experience 
  • Some experience with museums or cultural institutions, higher education, nonprofits, or community-based organizations
  • Valid drivers license required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite especially Word processing, collections management software. 
  • Familiarity with standards of art handling; proficiency in public speaking and the ability to deliver public presentations. 
  • Position involves sitting, although frequent movement is necessary. Computer usage involving repetitive hand/wrist motion is also necessary. The position will be hybrid located at DePaul Art Museum in Lincoln Park and remote. Occasional evening and weekend work is required based on programming needs
  • Ability to prioritize, take initiative, multi-task, and work efficiently under pressure and meet multiple deadlines as needed. 
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written, verbal and proofreading/editing skills.
  • Ability to work accurately with close attention to detail.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and human relations skills
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and work effectively with a small team of co-workers, diverse range of scholars, artists, and community makers and activists
  • Ability to build relationships and connect diverse audiences to DPAM programs and initiatives
  • Understanding of marketing principles. 
  • Knowledge of PhotoShop, QuarkXPress, and InDesign and/or similar graphic design programs helpful.
  • Demonstrated interest in modern and contemporary art
  • Experience with web content management, preferably Sharepoint
  • Familiarity with social media platforms (and is an active user on major platforms)
  • Familiarity with online management systems including Mailchimp, Hootsuite, Survey Monkey, Google Analytics/AdWords, and online management systems
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook
  • Ability to create digital assets (photo/video) with DSLR camera
  • Ability to use Adobe Photoshop (Adobe Premiere Pro a plus)
