Are you a new RN with a passion for pediatrics? Build confidence in your professional and clinical skills through ChildServe's RN Nurse Residency program. This year-long program is designed to support nurses with less than one year of experience in their transition to complex pediatric care.
Program Overview:
Online lectures and discussions through University of Iowa's nurse residency program
Months 1 - 6: focus on communication, responsibilities of a professional nurse and decision making at the point of care.
Months 7 - 12: engage in a Professionalism in Action Experience at ChildServe
Monthly check-ins with ChildServe Clinical Educator to support your development.
Hands-on practice performing pediatric sub-specialty clinical skills.
Attainment of CEUs
What You'll Do
Within the nursing scope of practice, physician's orders, and the care plan, make decisions and deliver a full range of nursing care based on the fundamentals of the nursing process.
Maintain accurate, completed, and timely records as defined by nursing standards of practice and ChildServe policies and procedures.
Communicate effectively, respectfully, and professionally with patients, physicians, families, school personnel, ChildServe staff, and others to assure assigned child's care needs are assessed, communicated, and met.
Provide training to children, families, and staff as needed to help advance the skills and knowledge of all people associated with a child's care delivery.
Demonstrate good stewardship of ChildServe equipment, supplies, and environment.
What You'll Need
One year or less of RN experience
Current valid license as a Registered Nurse in Iowa. Applicants planning to attain a RN license in the next 6 months are welcome to apply.
Documentation of current Basic Life Support certification
Ability to lift up to 35 lbs, be mobile within the assigned work area, and frequently bend, lift, reach, and stand.
Ability to communicate effectively in reading, writing and speaking the English language.
This position requires an updated COVID-19 vaccination or approved medical or religious exemption.
