As the Fitness Coordinator you will support residents in achieving personal fitness goals while fostering a healthier, more active community.
Your Role:
As the Fitness Coordinator, you will oversee and deliver the FitCamp program for the community, promoting wellness participation and increased physical activity across all ability levels. Through resident engagement, assessments, training, group exercise, and ongoing programming,

What You'll Do:
- Develop and implement fitness programming that supports residents of varying abilities and interests
- Lead (or subcontract) group exercise classes including strength, balance, flexibility, endurance, and aquatic exercise as needed
- Follow the FitCamp Core Program as outlined in the FitCamp Training Manual
- Instruct residents on proper use of fitness equipment
- Demonstrate safe and effective use of all fitness equipment
- Recruit and engage residents to participate in FitCamp and wellness programs, meeting participation benchmarks
- Provide each FitCamp member with a complimentary personal training session, including HUR smart card setup
- Conduct one-on-one fitness assessments using the Senior Fitness Test and develop customized fitness plans
- Review resident comparison and attendance reports monthly and adjust programming as needed
- Monitor participation and proactively follow up with residents when attendance declines
- Provide ongoing coaching and quarterly follow-ups to support resident fitness goals
- Address resident questions or concerns related to fitness programming
- Prepare and provide monthly fitness operations reports to the Executive Director
- Participate in annual fitness and wellness education programs
- Maintain required certifications, including CPR and HIPAA compliance
- Plan and deliver educational activities that support fitness initiatives
- Participate in marketing and community outreach events
- Administer resident satisfaction surveys according to guidelines
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Certified Personal Trainer through an accredited governing body (ACSM preferred)
- Two-year degree required; four-year degree in kinesiology or related field preferred
- Three to five years of experience in strength, balance, flexibility, and endurance training; senior population experience preferred
- Willingness to obtain a balance certification
- Ability to work a flexible schedule
- Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills
- Ability to engage and motivate residents of varying fitness levels
- Proficiency with basic computer applications and ability to learn community-specific systems
- Must be able to conduct low-impact aerobic exercise, including bending, twisting, and repetitive movement
- Ability to stand and remain active for extended periods (2–6 hours per day)
- Ability to lift up to 10 pounds regularly, up to 25 pounds frequently, and up to 60–70 pounds occasionally
- Demonstrated interest in working with a senior population
