Job Summary:
The Lead Medical Assistant oversees staff in the delivery of primary health and patient care management. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, routine clinical and administrative duties as needed to meet the needs of the practice to which it is assigned. The duties of the Lead Medical Assistant vary from office to office based on size and specialty of the practice.

Hours: Monday-Thursday, 9:30am-7:30pm

 

Job Essentials:

  • Oversee training, performance, scheduling, delegation, workflow coordination, and coverage for a team of at least three MAs; participate in hiring and ensure efficient staffing without overtime.

  • Provide onboarding and ongoing training, ensure adherence to updated policies/procedures, and maintain comprehensive knowledge of all MA functions to coach staff effectively.

  • Assist with patient prep, vitals, phlebotomy, specimen collection, minor procedures, clinical callbacks, and closing care gaps while ensuring accurate information flow to the care team.

  • Manage phones, scheduling, EMR (Epic) documentation, patient records, supply/equipment maintenance, room setup, and general departmental information sharing.

  • Maintain confidentiality, attend meetings, support cross‑office coverage, participate in committees and professional development, and uphold service excellence standards.



Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants
  • Five years of clinical experience in a medical office.
  • Knowledge of medical practice, exam and treatment procedures, medical equipment, safety protocols, vital signs, medications, specimen collection, and accurate medical record documentation.
  • Proficient with computer systems, EMRs, and healthcare administration principles; skilled in gathering, analyzing, and interpreting information; able to apply policies, prioritize tasks, and coordinate work effectively.
  • Strong written and verbal communication; effective collaboration with patients, staff, and the public; capable of exercising initiative, identifying problems, recommending solutions, and making sound decisions.



License/Certification/Registry:

 

  • Current Medical Assistant Certification
  • Current CPR Certification

 

Englewood Health job postings provide a minimum rate to comply with New Jersey Law. The rate of pay for each position will be determined based on a variety of factors including the candidate's relevant experience, qualifications, skills, etc. The minimum rate does not include bonuses/incentives, differential pay or other forms of compensation. In addition to the minimum rate, eligible employees may receive comprehensive benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, and other wellness resources.

Minimum rate: $18.50 per hour
