Position/PCN: General Maintenance Mechanic II

Class Summary: Under limited supervision performs a variety of general maintenance repairs and/or construction activities on building, grounds and equipment to ensure the continual operation of District facilities. May repair electrical, mechanical, HVAC, boiler/heater, freezers/coolers, audio visual and copying equipment, plumbing and sewage fixtures/lines, and carpentry work.
Hours: 7am-3:30pm
Distinguishing Characteristics:
Knowledge: Must possess working knowledge of at least one of the following: electrical mechanical, HVAC, boiler/heater, heating/cooling, audio visual and copying equipment, plumbing and sewage fixtures/lines and construction.
Skills (position requirements at entry): Ability to perform the tasks listed above. Must be able to work well with others, follow directions accurately and with speed, and read/decipher building plans and drawings. Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication. Prefer someone with jobsite management skills and ability to coordinate the work of others.
Training and Experience (position requirements at entry): Previous education, training, work of life experience which provides evidence of the successful completion of one or more of the various tasks listed. Such experience may be evidenced by six (6) years of general maintenance repairs and construction work.
Licensing Requirements (position requirements at entry): Valid Alaska Driver's License Required.
Class A and/or Class B CDL Preferred.
Physical Requirements: Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
