Description

The Corporate Commercial Loan Documentation Specialist plays a critical role in supporting the bank's commercial lending operations by preparing accurate and compliant loan documentation. The primary purpose of the role is to ensure that all commercial loan documents are produced in accordance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and the terms outlined in loan approvals. Precision and attention to detail are essential, as errors in documentation can expose the bank to legal, financial, and reputational risk.

This position requires sound judgment in interpreting loan approval terms, identifying missing or inconsistent information, and determining when further clarification or documentation is necessary. The specialist works closely with commercial lenders, credit officers, legal counsel, and other internal departments to gather required documentation, resolve discrepancies, and ensure that all conditions of approval are met prior to releasing documents for execution. Strong collaboration and communication skills are essential to ensure timely, accurate, and fully compliant loan closings.

Essential Job Responsibilities

 

1. Prepares comprehensive and error free loan documentation using LaserPro or internal templates, ensuring strict adherence to internal policies, banking regulations, and applicable legal requirements. Expectation is less than 1% external critical error rate and less than 5% internal critical error rate of draft documents.

2. Manages the loan documentation process for all assigned LaserPro loans to ensure that all loan documentation is produced in accordance with the loan approval and that draft and final loan documentation are created error free.

3. Efficiently manages a high volume of urgent and complex documentation requests by prioritizing tasks to meet critical deadlines, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulatory standards; coordinates seamlessly with lending teams to facilitate timely and successful loan closings. 

4. Manages and monitors a pipeline of complex, high-value commercial loan requests with diverse structures and timelines. Ensures all loan approval conditions are met by accurately preparing, reviewing, and collecting required supporting documentation prior to the release and execution of loan documents. Proactively advances loans through the pipeline and maintain thorough follow-up with lending teams to ensure timely progression and resolution. 

5. Effectively communicates with corporate lenders, credit analysts, portfolio specialists, management, and internal departments to ensure smooth loan processing. Coordinates with the lending team to obtain all necessary due diligence documentation required for the preparation of loan documents, promptly addressing any discrepancies or additional requirements. 

6. Prepares accurate amortization schedules requested by lending teams.

7. Conducts research assignments, and contributes to special projects as needed, providing detailed, organized, and well-supported documentation in support of departmental goals as assigned.

8. Ensures Service Level Agreements are met with regards to preparing draft documents for review and issuance of final loan documents.

Bona Fide Occupational Qualifications

1. Associates degree in a related field or equivalent work experience is required.

2. A minimum of one (1) year's experience related to commercial banking, including commercial loan documentation. Experience with LaserPro preferred. 

3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, exceptional relationship-building skills, strong analytical and mathematical skills, and a motivation to learn.

4. Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Adobe Acrobat is required.

5. May be eligible for Telecommuting.
