Job SummaryThe Environment, Health & Safety Engineer will be based in GDL North and will report to the EH&S Manager.
Responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring the company's environmental, health, and safety programs and policies to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, promoting an accident-free and healthy workplace.
Responsibilities:
- Consults with all departments on equipment design and usage, fire prevention, and safety programs.
- Identification, evaluation, and control of legal requirements related to safety, health, and the environment.
- Conducts or coordinates EH&S training to educate employees on emergency awareness, environmental training, applicable laws, and best practices.
- Tours the plant to inspect environmental controls and facilities to identify and correct potential hazards and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
- Investigates environmental incidents to minimize recurrence and prepares incident reports.
- Conducts air quality tests to detect the presence of harmful gases and vapors.
- Identifies health and safety hazards and recommends corrective actions.
- Serves as an internal consultant to business units on ergonomics, hazardous materials, industrial hygiene, and fire and chemical safety matters.
- Audits business units.
- Interfaces with external vendors, contractors, and engineers regarding facilities, chemicals, and other workplace health and safety matters.
- Compiles and submits environmental and legal reports.
- Manages the ISO 14000 Environmental Management System.
- Supports external inspections and follows up on regulatory findings and resolutions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Legal, or related field, or equivalent experience in EH&S, with knowledge of applicable regulations, codes, and guidelines.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in EH&S or a related position.
- Experience supporting inspections and preparing and responding to official regulatory documentation.
- Experience working with government and regulatory authorities.
- Advanced English proficiency.
