Job SummaryTo support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we're looking to add a Failure Analysis Engineer located in Guadalajara, North Campus.
Reporting to the Test Engineering Manager the Failure Analysis Engineer is responsible for leading and owning functional troubleshooting and failure analysis strategies for electronic systems, software, and test processes within manufacturing and NPI environments. This role has a strong hands‑on and technical leadership focus, ensuring robust diagnostic methods, rapid issue resolution, yield improvement, and sustained customer satisfaction.
What a typical day looks like:
Leads the definition, implementation, and continuous improvement of cost‑effective failure analysis and troubleshooting methodologies for electronic products, systems, and manufacturing test processes.
Directs and coordinates electronic engineering and technical personnel in the design and execution of failure analysis methods, functional testing, test control apparatus, and system‑level debug activities.
Owns engineering activities related to the development, procurement, installation, calibration, and validation of test instruments, equipment, and control devices used to test, telemeter, and record diagnostic and failure data.
Defines and drives debug strategies for failed units across the test process, ensuring structured, repeatable, and data‑driven problem resolution.
Establishes and standardizes debug conditions, procedures, phases, and performance indicators, ensuring consistent execution by technicians and engineering teams.
Acts as a technical interface with scientific, engineering, manufacturing, quality, and customer teams to resolve complex functional failures, including system malfunctions, incomplete or inconsistent test data, unresolved failure reports, component obsolescence issues, data interpretation gaps, and software-related defects.
Leads the evaluation and interpretation of failure, yield, and diagnostic data, preparing high‑quality Failure Analysis Reports and technical summaries for engineering leadership, operations, and customer stakeholders.
Designs, develops, and/or deploys software and hardware diagnostic tools to improve functional testing, debug efficiency, and root cause identification.
Mentors, trains, and technically leads debug technicians, test technicians, and operators, reinforcing structured problem‑solving techniques and best practices.
Owns test yield improvement initiatives, performing advanced root cause analysis, defining corrective and preventive actions, and monitoring long‑term effectiveness.
Analyzes electronic circuits and system topologies to identify marginal conditions, design weaknesses, or component compatibility risks.
Performs yield trend and Pareto analysis to detect epidemic or systemic failures that require deeper technical investigation.
Defines, tracks, and improves diagnostic efficiency and effectiveness metrics to optimize failure analysis throughput and technician productivity.
Leads the creation and maintenance of technical documentation, diagnostic procedures, and analysis tools to standardize failure analysis processes.
Provides senior‑level technical support during New Product Introduction (NPI), ensuring smooth ramp‑up and rapid containment of early‑life failures.
Maintains strong written and verbal communication with customers, presenting analysis results, recovery actions, and long‑term improvement plans.
The experience we're looking to add to our team:
BA/BS or equivalent work experience.
Fluent English (spoken and written).
Senior‑level experience in Failure Analysis, functional testing, and system‑level troubleshooting within a manufacturing environment.
Strong expertise in electronic circuits, power electronics, and system integration.
Proven experience leading debug strategies and yield improvement initiatives.
Advanced problem‑solving skills.
Experience developing or deploying diagnostic software, test automation, or analysis tools.
Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and influence technical teams.
Strong communication skills with the ability to interface with customers and cross‑functional leadership.
Experience supporting NPI activities and production ramp‑ups.
Availability of schedule and willingness to travel as required.
