Job Summary

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we're looking to add a Senior Industrial Relations Advisor located in Bukit Minyak, Penang


We are seeking a proactive and strategist Senior Employee Relations Executive to support our teams in building a positive, compliant, and collaborative workplace culture in possible unionize environment. This role involves working closely with employees, managers, Site HRBP Leads, and union representatives to address employee relations matters effectively and professionally.
 

What a typical day looks like:


Union Management & Collective Bargaining

  • Serve as a liaison between management and union representatives to foster constructive labor relations.

  • Support the negotiation and renewal of Collective Agreements (CA), including preparation of negotiation materials, data analysis, and documentation.

  • Assist in interpreting and implementing terms of the Collective Agreement, ensuring compliance and consistency across departments.

  • Participate in union meetings and grievance discussions, ensuring timely resolution and alignment with company policies and labor laws.

  • Maintain accurate records of union-related activities, agreements, and communications.

 
Employee Relations & Investigations

  • Support the resolution of employee relations issues, including policy violations and workplace conflicts, by conducting initial assessments and collaborating with HR, Legal & Compliance teams.

  • Assist in conducting interviews with complainants, witnesses, and respondents, ensuring confidentiality and professionalism throughout the process.

  • Document findings and prepare reports for review by senior Managements.

  • Coordinate and support employee relations activities with site HRBPs and ensure compliance with internal procedures.

  • Monitor trends in employee relations cases and escalate recurring issues with recommendations for preventive actions.

 
Training & Advisory Support

  • Provide guidance to managers and HR Business Partners on Malaysia labor laws, grievance handling, and performance management processes.

  • Assist in organizing and delivering training sessions on employee relations topics, including updates on labor law and disciplinary procedures.

  • Act as a point of contact for employee grievances and escalations, ensuring timely and fair resolution in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.

 
Compliance & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Ensure all employee relations activities comply with local labor laws and internal policies.

  • Maintain strong working relationships with internal teams and external authorities (e.g., IR Dept,Labour Dept,MEF) and external counsel as and when required.

  • Support the preparation of documentation and case files for conciliation meetings or labor authority engagements.

 
Report & Data Analysis

  • Competent in preparing clear and professional report using Microsoft Office (ppt,canva etc) for internal briefings, training, and case reviews.

  • Skilled in Excel for data tracking, trend analysis, and reporting of employee relations metrics.

  • Able to analyze employee relations and union-related data to identify patterns and recommend proactive interventions.


The experience we're looking to add to our team:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Industrial Relations, Law or a related field.

  • Minimum 5–7 years of experience in employee relations or HR generalist roles, exposure to unionized environments is a MUST

  • Strong understanding of Malaysia labor laws, disciplinary procedures, and collective bargaining processes.

  • Excellent communication, interviewing, and documentation skills.

  • Ability to handle sensitive matters with discretion and empathy.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially PowerPoint and Excel.
