Description

Position Description:

Join our dynamic technical operations team as an intern and play a key role in building cutting-edge solutions that enhance the efficiency of our flight troubleshooting process. This internship provides hands-on experience with AI-driven tools, data integration, and automation to tackle real-world challenges in aviation technology. You'll collaborate with our experts to have real world customer inflight experience and design an automated workflow that categorizes flight issues into hardware, network, or software-related causes, helping streamline our operations. We're looking for passionate, positive, and innovative individuals who are excited to learn, problem-solve, and make a tangible impact.

Job Responsibilities:

As an intern, you will work on critical projects that directly affect how we diagnose and resolve issues on flights. Key deliverables include:

  • Building an automated workflow to analyze flight performance and categorize failures by cause (hardware, software, network).
  • Ingesting and integrating data from various sources such as log files, OpenSearch, Toaster, ServiceNow, and our Unified Data Platform (UDP).
  • Automating initial troubleshooting steps based on historical data and flagging issues for further review.
  • Creating alerts and visual dashboards to track common failure modes and flag aircraft-specific problems.
  • Using predictive models to suggest which failure mode is most likely, driving faster and more accurate troubleshooting.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure data insights are actionable and drive continuous improvement.
  • Conduct and monitor test flights and inflight customer experience, built reports comparing flights, devices and experience.
  • Attending team events, training sessions, and meetings to gain a holistic understanding of our operations and build valuable skills.

Unique Opportunities:

  • Close mentorship and feedback from experienced engineers and analysts.
  • The chance to present your findings and showcase your contributions to senior leadership.
  • Opportunities to work on impactful projects that will directly affect operational outcomes and efficiency.
  • Being part of a collaborative team that values continuous learning and innovative problem-solving.

Preferred Qualifications

We are looking for an enthusiastic learner eager to grow in technical operations. You should have:

  • Basic experience working with Python and an interest in AI and machine learning workflows.
  • Demonstrated initiative in personal projects or club activities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset.
  • Currently pursuing a degree in engineering, data science, computer science, or aviation.
  • A positive attitude, curiosity to learn, and willingness to contribute to team efforts.

12 Week Schedule:

  • Week 1-3: Learn about our system, gain access to tools, and observe the current maintenance workflow. Begin working on basic flight screening processes to triage problematic flights.
  • Week 4-6: Start ingesting data from tools like OpenSearch, Toaster, ServiceNow, and UDP. Distinguish between isolated poor flight performance and systemic aircraft issues. Automate the review of an aircraft's historical data for recurring problems. Initial flight testing and real-world customer experience exposure.
  • Week 7-10: Identify key data points and input them into models to predict failure modes. Generate automated outputs with recommendations and integrate these into a consolidated dashboard for review. Continuous flight testing and customer facing experience exposure.
  • Week 10-12: Focus on improving tool efficiency, integrating insights into systems like ServiceNow, and presenting your findings, along with suggestions for future enhancements.

Minimum Requirements
