Job Summary:
Manages the day-to-day operations and supervises areas of clinical treatment and treatment planning within the Radiation Oncology Department. In cooperation with the Department Director, provides radiation therapy clinical operations/services that add value and are integrated with the organizations business, strategic, and operational goals and objectives.

Essential Responsibilities:


  • Administers policies, procedures and implementation of standards to ensure quality patient care by monitoring compliance on an ongoing basis, utilizing department and organizational standard operating procedures.

  • Develops department clinical standards, clinical and operating procedures/policies.

  • Ensures a competent, motivated staff through selection, orientation, training, development and supervision of technical employees in accordance with department and employee relations policies and procedures.

  • Ensures effective communication channels by advising appropriate personnel on operational, procedural, and organizational policy issues, enabling effective and consistent service to patients and staff.

  • Ensures appropriate structural, material and human resources needs by identifying and recommending such needs for higher level administrative approval within budgetary constraints.

  • Manages assigned financial and physical department resources in a cost-effective manner in accordance with organizational needs and operating requirements.

  • Monitors construction progress and associated purchasing activities for treatment and planning areas.

  • Assures radiation safety to minimize unnecessary radiation exposure by conducting ongoing and special radiation surveys according to national, state and county regulations/standards.

  • Develops timely and accurate workload reports through detailed analysis in accordance with department procedures; identifies and implements opportunities/strategies to improve productivity and effectiveness of administrative and clinical processes, systems and methods.

Basic Qualifications: Experience

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience completed within the last three (3) years as a Physicist, Radiation Therapist, Certified Medical Dossimitrist required.

Education
  • Medical Physicist Candidate:
  • Masters or PhD as a Medical Physicist. OR
  • Radiation Therapist/Dossimitrist Candidate:
  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
License, Certification, Registration
  • Radiologic Technologist Certification from American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
Additional Requirements:
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize knowledge of radiation oncology procedures, radiation protection, radiation therapy equipment, accessories and clinical applications; and technological advances in radiation such as dynamic wedge and multileaf collimation.
  • Ability to evaluate and recommend/purchase equipment.
  • Knowledge of radiation therapy clinical functions and procedures/treatments.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills with administrative staff, physicians and department staff.
  • Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience as supervisor in a Radiation Oncology Department strongly preferred.
  • Fluoroscopy License preferred.
