Analytical Chemical Scientist – Iodine Analysis (Ion Chromatography)

Kelly Science & Clinical is seeking an Analytical Chemical Scientist for one of our clients, a chemical company located in northwest Houston.

As an Analytical Chemical Scientist  you will lead and perform iodine-based analyses with a focus on ion chromatography (IC) methods to support research, quality control, and product development. This role requires a strong background in inorganic analytical chemistry, trace element quantification, and data interpretation in regulated environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, validate, and execute iodine analysis methods using ion chromatography (IC), inductively coupled plasma (ICP), or related techniques.
  • Prepare, analyze, and interpret data from diverse sample matrices, ensuring precision, accuracy, and adherence to standard operating procedures.
  • Maintain and calibrate IC systems, detectors, and sample preparation equipment to ensure reliable performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in R&D, QA/QC, and production to deliver analytical insights that guide formulation or process improvements.
  • Prepare technical reports, data summaries, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Stay current with advances in iodine chemistry and chromatographic techniques to enhance lab capability.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or related scientific discipline; PhD preferred for senior-level roles.
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in ion chromatography (preferably with iodine or halogen analysis).
  • Demonstrated expertise in method development, instrument troubleshooting, and quantitative analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of analytical troubleshooting, calibration, and trace analysis.
  • Familiarity with related instrumentation (ICP-MS, IC-MS, UV-Vis spectroscopy) is an asset.
  • Excellent attention to detail, documentation skills, and ability to work under minimal supervision.

Job Details
  • Contract-to-Hire
  • Schedule: Monday- Friday, 8am-5pm
  • Pay rate: $34 per hour
